A Better Weigh

I’ve written about the problem of obesity in the past. It’s an epidemic in North America now as we all know, and with one look around, it’s not hard to see why.

But let’s say you want to lose weight — what do you do? There are so many diets out there, it’s really tough to know where to begin. Some people try numerous diets only to fail or to find temporary success.

I myself am not a big fan of diets because they’re often focused only weight loss, rather than creating an overall healthy lifestyle, and don’t teach people how to stay fit for the long haul.

That said, I want to give a little endorsement to a new program friends of mine have started. One of them, Kate, is a Registered Nurse and adjunct professor who has worked in the personal health field for some time. Their weight-loss/wellness program is called “A Better Weigh“and apparently, they’re seeing big results.

They use the Ideal Protein protocol, food products and supplements, which trace their beginnings to Europe when some Olympic athletes approached the founder (a medical doctor with a PHD in nutrition) and said they needed to lose weight, but couldn’t compromise their lean muscle mass or energy.

Existing diets were either harmful or didn’t work, so the doctor developed a program to help them and now his system is known as Ideal Protein. In fact, the Canadian government recently selected Ideal Protein to provide their protocol and products to the Canadian military — after a three year long intensive review that included a large number of huge food product and weight loss companies.

Proponents claim this program is healthier than Atkins because it’s not a protein-only diet. Clients lose fat while maintaining/improving lean muscle mass and energy.

My friends at A Better Weigh say their clients are seeing visible improvements on a number of levels within a week of starting the program. In addition to rapidly losing weight, folks are getting off of heart meds, cholesterol meds, Type 2 diabetes meds, blood pressure meds, and more.

I can’t personally vouch for the program because I’ve never used it. (And please don’t hate me, but I don’t need it.) My friends, however, are honest and talented people who seem to be providing a valuable health service so I’m doing something unusual and giving them a plug. Besides, “A Better Weigh” is kind of a cute name.
