Carl Gershman

Carl Gershman (born July 20, 1943) has been the President of the National Endowment for Democracy since its 1984 founding. He had served as the U.S. Representative to the U.N.'s Committee on human rights during the first Reagan Administration. At the time this article was written in 1984, he was Counselor to the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
