Chris Christie’s modest ambitions

I continue to be impressed with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. In a political age where every elected official covets the office above his, it’s nice to run across an exception.

During a Fox Business Network interview yesterday, Christie — a rising star in the GOP — was asked if he had interest in the 2012 race. His response:

Not going to happen. I want to be Governor of New Jersey. I ran for Governor of New Jersey. I’m not Woodrow Wilson. You have to be in your gut and in your heart ready to be President if you decide to run for that. I simply do not have the desire to do it, nor do I think I’m ready.

An honest politician with muted ambitions? Say it’s so.
