If It Looks Like a Duck: The Islamist-Nazi Connection

Amin al Husseini bei bosnischen SS-Freiwilligen

One of the great advantages we have over our ancestors is hindsight. With a clearer picture of the past, we can avoid making the same mistakes they made. But what if we’re not allowed to use our hindsight? What if we’re forced to pretend that what happened in the past bears no relation to what is happening now?

Of course, there’s something to be said for learning from your own mistakes, but some mistakes are so costly that it’s far better to learn about them in history books. The appeasement of the Nazis prior to World War II is an example of the kind of mistake the world can’t afford to repeat. Yet there’s much to suggest that we are engaged in a similar folly today. The rise of Islamism in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and elsewhere is eerily reminiscent of the rise of Nazism in Europe eighty years ago. By now, anyone with a passing acquaintance with history should have had that hmm-this-rings-a-bell moment. Thanks to our exquisitely sensitive educational system, however, the ranks of those who “don’t know much about history” has swollen to vast proportions. And even those who do know their history know that there are certain comparisons you are not supposed to make—like the one that obtains between Nazis and Islamists. To do so would be offensive to Muslims and to all sorts of other people as well. In other words, it’s not permissible to have the kind of discussion that might help us to avoid the fate suffered by Europe under the Nazis.

As a general rule, it’s best to avoid the Nazi analogy. Nazism represents a uniquely evil moment in history. Labeling every politician you disagree with as a Nazi only serves to dilute the singular horror of the original. Yet in the case of Islamists, the analogy is appropriate. The similarities between the two ideologies are too close to ignore. Moreover, as a point of historical fact, prominent Islamists worked closely with the Nazis during the Second World War. What’s more, even today many Muslims make no secret of their admiration for Hitler. It may be a stretch to call Senator so-and-so a Nazi for employing dirty campaign tricks, but it’s less of a reach to notice a Nazi resemblance when Islamists are so willing to paste a Charlie Chaplin mustache on their upper lip—when, for example, an upscale Turkish mall features posters of Hitler as part of the décor, or when Muslim mobs in Paris attack a synagogue full of Jews, or when prominent imams express a desire to bat cleanup for Hitler.

Finish Hitler’s work? Islamic theologian and scholar Yusuf al-Qaradawi has voiced just such a wish. In a 2009 statement, he called the Holocaust “a divine punishment” of Jews: “The last punishment was carried out by Hitler… Allah willing, the next time will be at the hand of the believers.” Of course, Sheik Qaradawi does not represent the views of all Muslims on the matter. On the other hand, it would not be accurate to say he is out of the mainstream. Qaradawi has held numerous high academic positions in various Middle-Eastern universities; he is chairman of the International Union of Muslim Scholars; he has received eight international prizes for his contributions to Islamic scholarship; and he finished third in a 2008 poll to determine the world’s leading public intellectual. Qaradawi also plays well with the non-scholarly crowd. His popular “Shariah and Life” TV program reaches an estimated worldwide audience of sixty million. In many respects Sheik Qaradawi is Mister Mainstream.

Qaradawi is a relative latecomer to the Hitler fan club, and not even the most prominent. While the Sheik is limited to reaching across the years to congratulate the Führer, Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, had only to reach across the table. There is a photo of Hitler and Husseini seated knee-to-knee in Hitler’s private office in the Reich Chancellery in November, 1941. The probable topic of conversation?—the quickest way to eliminate the Jews. Speeding up the “Final Solution” was an obsession with Husseini, and he spent hours discussing the matter with the likes of Joachin von Ribbentrop, Heinrich Himmler, and Adolf Eichmann.

The Mufti was no maverick Muslim. According to historians David Dalin and John Rothmann, “With the possible exception of King Ibn Saud of Saudi Arabia, al-Husseini was the most eminent and influential Islamic leader in the Middle East.” (Icon of Evil, p. 5) And he was treated as such by the Nazis, who provided him with five residences and a monthly stipend of over $10,000. In return, al-Husseini recruited more than 100,000 Muslims to fight in the European division of the Waffen-SS.

Hasan al-Banna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood and a friend of Husseini, was also impressed with the Nazis, and during the war he worked to establish a formal alliance with Hitler and Mussolini. Moreover, under directions from al-Banna, the Brotherhood Intelligence Service shared information with the Germans on the movements of the British Army.

Islamists and Nazis also shared an interest in anti-Semitic literature. According to Dalin and Rothmann:

Mein Kampf … remains a perennial best-seller in several Islamic countries. After the Six-Day War in 1967, Israeli soldiers discovered that many Egyptian prisoners carried small paperback editions of Mein Kampf, translated into Arabic… (Icon of Evil, p. 113)

Like the Nazis, the Arabs also shared a firm belief in the authenticity of the viciously anti-Semitic tract The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. The first of many Arabic editions was published in 1921. It has been a best-seller in Islamic capitals ever since and remains required reading in many Arab universities. King Faisal was so enamored of the book that he ordered all Saudi hotels to put a copy in every room—presumably right alongside the Gideon Koran.

Unfortunately, the Muslim-Nazi connection is not just of historical interest. Islamists all over the world are acting more and more like Nazis.

The anti-Semitism is the most obvious similarity: the firebombing of a synagogue in a Paris suburb, Muslim rallygoers in Antwerp calling for the “slaughter of the Jews,” Islamist protesters in Frankfurt joining with leftists and Neo-Nazis to chant anti-Jewish slogans, and Jews once again leaving Europe in droves in search of safe havens.

Another shared goal is the subjection of Christians. The Jews were not the only targets of the Nazis, they also waged a kulturkampf against Christians. The Catholic Church, in particular, was considered an ideological enemy. Some of this anti-Christian animus is captured in a popular Hitler Youth song:

We are the happy Hitler Youth;
We have no need for Christian virtue;
For Adolf Hitler is our intercessor
And our redeemer (cited in Liberal Fascism, p. 365)

As is becoming increasingly obvious, Islamists are no friends of Christians either. Christians have been the main target of Boko Haram in Nigeria and of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and Christians were singled out in the Nairobi mall massacre. In Iraq, which has already lost two-thirds of its Christian population in recent years, Christians in the north have been notified by the Islamic State organization (formerly ISIS) that they must either convert to Islam, pay the jizya tax, or face death. In preparation for the anti-Christian campaign, IS soldiers marked Christian homes with identifying symbols.

There are numerous other parallels with the Nazis: the grade-school indoctrination of Palestinian children, for instance, and the use of street violence in European cities as a form of intimidation. However, the most chilling similarity between the rise of Nazism and the rise of Islamism lies in the similar response of those threatened. In both instances, Western nations have fallen all over themselves in offering up gestures of abasement and appeasement. We remember the territorial appeasement of the Nazis—the Munich agreement and the smaller concessions that led up to it—but there was a great deal of cultural appeasement as well. For example, Charlie Chaplin was unable to find a Hollywood producer willing to back The Great Dictator, his 1940 spoof of Hitler. And, while the film was still in production, the British government announced it would prohibit its exhibition in the United Kingdom. Nowadays, filmmakers have no inhibitions about bashing Hitler, but they scrupulously avoid offending the sensibilities of Muslims. For example, Hollywood produces plenty of terrorist flicks but, strangely, their terrorists are never of the Islamic variety. Meanwhile, in obeisance to Islamic pressure, a low-budget filmmaker in California was put in federal prison for a year for making a video that spoofed Muhammad.

Educators and petty bureaucrats have been equally accommodating of Muslim wishes. According to a Guardian headline, “Fear of Islamophobia gave activists free rein in Birmingham schools.” Which activists might that be? The story continues:

A group of fundamentalist ‘activists,’ mostly men of Pakistani origin, infiltrated the management of at least 10 schools in Birmingham, sometimes breaking the law in order to introduce Muslim worship and sex segregation…

The effort to turn the schools into madrassas had gone on for years, but no one tried to stop it. Why? Because “their activities were unimpeded by [city] council officials who were fearful of allegations of Islamophobia.”

That’s Birmingham, England, but who’s to say it couldn’t happen in Birmingham, Alabama? For U.S. educators, Islamophobia ranks right behind racism and homophobia as one of the worst imaginable hate crimes. American school books have already undergone text-change operations in order to make them acceptable to the Islamist education lobby.

But who needs to go to school in order to learn the right attitudes when the media is so willing to assure us that bad things have nothing to do with Islam? Or to reliably echo the Palestinian interpretation of the Mid-East situation? Goebbels was no slouch at propaganda, but he would have envied the ability of Islamists to package themselves as misunderstood nice guys and their skill at getting the world’s media to go along with the ruse.

The West was eventually able to rise up and meet the Nazi challenge. Today the West has yet to arrive at the stage of realizing that it has a challenge on its hands. What we now call “political correctness” existed in incipient form even in the 1930s, but not to the extent that it prevented people from noticing what was right in front of their eyes. That was their advantage over us. Our advantage over them is that we have the benefit of clear and instructive historical parallels. We have the power of hindsight—if only we would allow ourselves to use it.

A copy of this needs to get into the hands of every Jew in America and Canada…before it’s too late.

“First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”

First they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for for Catholics and I did not speak out because i was not Catholic.
Then they came for all Christians and I did not speak out because I was not a Christian.
Then they came for the homosexuals but I did not speak out because I was not a homosexual.
Then they came for all adulterers but I did not speak out because I was not an adulterer.
Then they came for all women who were dressed immodestly but i did not speak out because I was not a woman.
Then they came for me because I would not worship Allah.

Almost ten years ago Terri Schindler Schiavo was the victim of judicial murder in Florida. Many persons at her slow execution saw the resemblance to Nazism. Labeled as zealots (or worse) we were marginalized by the media. Observing history is one thing and learning from it another.

    • TruthWFree

Not a good comparison. Here we are talking about a religion (Islam) with the goal of world domination and persecution of unbelievers. The most dangerous thing about Islam is too many people do not see the evil threat…just like so many do not believe that Satan exists…or God for that matter. In my opinion, not accepting that God (and Satan) exist results in blindness to Islam and its evil goals.

From Ian Hanchett on Brietbart today:
Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of Hamas co-founder and leader Hassan Yousef spoke about his break with Hamas and the organization’s ultimate goals of a worldwide Islamic caliphate on Tuesday’s broadcast of the “Mark Levin Show.”
Yousef said he left Hamas after he saw the viciousness of an organization that tortures and kills its own members that are suspected of collaborating with the Israelis, and couldn’t morally justify the fact that Hamas suicide bombers intentionally targeted “buses, schools, hospitals, [and] universities.”
He later added that Hamas has “global, religious, ideological agendas” that are dangerous, not just to Israel, but the entire world. “Their goal is to conquer the globe and build an Islamic state on every inch of the globe” Yousef said. He also said that Hamas “is willing to sacrifice as many Palestinians as it takes” to achieve its goals, and they “don’t care about Palestine…all they care about [is] to conquer.” He reported that America itself “is a target for the Hamas movement.” And “Israel in the Middle East is fighting on behalf of the free world.”

I heard the interview on Mark Levin’s show last night. It was riveting for a number of reasons, but especially because toward the end of the interview Mark asked Yousef who his greatest influences are and Yousef prominently mentioned Jesus Christ. If there is a transcript or audio of this interview it would be well worth the time to read it or listen to it.

      • Fred

Thanks PJA, I will look for it. I missed it, but pray for Mark as I hear the rage in his voice ratchet up every day in disbelief to what is going on.

Walid Shoebat some time ago questioned the validity of this man’s turnaround, saying he says something different when speaking in Arabic to his own people. One must be careful but to me, if he speaks the truth about Hamas, I don’t see how it could help them. Be careful is all I can say. Islam allows deceit (taqiyya and kitman).

This book was written in 2004. The end section deals with the Hitler/Muslim connection and is documented. Too bad people find history boring. . .

That is an excellent book. The mufti did everything in his power to keep the Jews from getting to Palestine during WWII. A good friend of mine is from Cologne Germany and she actually saw the mufti there when she was a young woman.

The filmmaker mentioned in the article was convicted on bank fraud charges. The article implies that he went to jail solely for publishing a movie about Mohammed. This is a good article. Please fix this part.

    • Sam Scot

The filmmaker mentioned in the article had been on parole for a year after serving time for bank fraud. He was re-arrested and charged with violating the terms of his parole. Note that the violation was not committing more bank fraud. It was for the act of uploading the video about Mohammed: His parole required him to be supervised while using the Internet.
Curiously, the inspiration to investigate and jail the filmmaker for his solo use of the Internet did not occur during the entire year since his parole had begun, but only after the Benghazi attack. Anyone who thinks his re-arrest and extra jail term were related to bank fraud, rather than political cover-up for the 0bama Administration, does so at the risk of his intellectual integrity.

Almost 50 years ago, my ninth grade world history teacher revealed to a few of us he was born in Germany and during WWII as a young teen was a Hitler Youth. With a brush stroke, it being similar to our Boy Scouts moved the conversation along. Our physics/chemistry teacher was a decade older and German born too.

My question after a lecture on what led up to WWII was, “What were the first two Reich’s?” His answer was essentially where to find the answer. I consequently read Mein Kampf, various works of Rudolf Steiner and Hilaire Belloc that led to Chesterton and Shaw. Recently Gary Taubes most recent 2010 book presents further confirmation.

The Third Reich did not end with WWII or Hitler’s death. Hitler viewed himself as an
instrument for its introduction into the world, a return to the First Reich. His belief that the end of the First Reich began with the introduction of the second, Moses and the Ten Commandments, startled me and offers in the big brush strokes of Belloc history a different view than the factoid nonsense we are expected to digest. The mutual commitments to the same return to the past by Muslim and Nazis is flourishing everywhere. Look at results of both so-called US political parties over the last 60 years. The incremental introduction of sanitized First Reich began in the US as soon as WWII ended.

    • Grandpa left SpanishAtheists

I’m sorry, what? Hitler hated Jews, why would he want to return to Moses, whom Jews (as well as Chrisitians) revere as the man God used to liberate His (God’s) people/their (the Jew’s) ancestors? If anything, Hitler would empathize with the power-hungry, Hebrew-oppressing Pharoah. The First Reich was a German empire (Holy “Roman”), I think, as well as the Second Reich. Maybe I read your post wrong, your teachers & your experience sound interesting though.

      • http://eisbrener.info/blog Michael Eisbrener

The third is a return to the first… Moses introduced the second. The third is exactly as you say what Hitler’s intention to return to the time of Pharoah. Anyone who is selling the First Reich as a German empire never read Mein Kampf or paid any attention to what Hitler said… and usually are stand ins for implementing the Third Reich. … Planned Parenthood is a good example. The evil genius was a genius none the less.

Great article again, thanks. I still have you in my prayers for your boldness. You obviously missed the part about the great contributions that have been made to the very fabric of our country by those that wish our destruction, or did you not know (sarcasm)? I read and ponder in disbelief how quickly things have been totally turned on their head in this country and the world. Contemplate the meaning behind the practice of Taqiyya as you read about this religion of peace. Are we being lulled to sleep with lies and half-truths to sleep, “nothing to see here, move along”? It will be a sad day to realize for those of us who are aware, but sadder for those who despise Christ when Sharia law is imposed on them and whether they think it’s the sweetest sound in the world or not will not matter as they are forced to listen to the call to prayer and respond or be killed. It was foretold that we will be persecuted in his name, maybe our time is coming. I’ve recently re-focused on Matthew 5:44, but it does not come easy for me.

The studied naiveté of our bishops vis a vis Islam is reminiscent
of the Cliveden Set in Britain in the 1930’s vis a vis National
Socialism. President Obama just feted a group of Muslims in the White
House, praising Islam for its human rights record (at the very moment
that Assyrian Christians are being threatened with the sword.) But this
can be ascribed to his instinctive and scandalous Islamic sympathies and
not to ignorance. However, those of our bishops (like Cardinal Dolan who
visited a mosque and told the Muslims to “keep the faith” ) are eerily
like those accommodationists who gathered around Lady Astor at Cliveden to mock
Churchill. It is the same story now, although these bishops may lack their
intellect and polish. – The problem may be systemic: Pope Francis
hosted an Imam who prayed in the Vatican gardens at a “unity gathering”
for the conquest of the Infidels. And there was that neuralgic scene
of Pope John Paul II kissing the Koran. Give him the benefit of the
doubt: perhaps his increasing physical debilitation weakened his
perception, but Vatican attempts to explain it away were incoherent verbal gymnastics. The Pope certainly was not kissing a bound volume of L’Osservatore Romano. Pius XII has been treated unfairly by historians of mixed motives, but he never kissed a copy of Mein Kampf. The one prophet was Pope Benedict XVI, whose Regensburg Address will be remembered along with the speeches of those great World War II prelates Preysing,
Galen and Faulhaber. They have finer memorials than the head of the
German episcopate, Cardinal Bertram, who thought he could smooth things over by sending Hitler a congratulatory fiftieth birthday message.

Whenever you make a connection with Nazis and this group or that, keep in mind that the Catholics in Spain were also allied with the Nazis in their struggle against Communism there.

    • cestusdei

We had to ally ourselves with Stalin. Such unfortunate things are sometimes the lesser evil. Note that Spain did not join Germany in WWII and that Franco restored the monarchy which led to a democratic Spain.

      • ColdStanding

And very soon the Spanish democracy will return the favor by relieving the Spanish royals of their throne.

        • cestusdei

If so you can thank Franco or blame him as the case may be.

        • Jesse

Rick K, please consider the history. The Catholic Church was literally attacked at the outset of the Spanish Civil War by the soviet-aided Communist side, with bishops and thousands of priests being killed (in addition to thousands of monks and nuns also killed) and churches ransacked and torched by the atheistic Republican-Communists. The Communist Republic was backed by atheist Stalin’s communist Soviet Union, and was intolerant to religion – as expressed by the Communist Republican actions. Franco led the opposition, the Nationalists, which obviously subsequent to the initiation of the civil war, Germany gave support to the side which opposed the Communists. As the lines were drawn, anyone in Spain had two choices: atheistic Communist Side or the Franco’s Nationalist side backed by Germany. Priests and leaders of the Catholic Church did not have this choice, however, as they were being killed and purged from society by the Soviet-backed Communist Republicans. Also, important to recall is that this was Germany before WWII (Spanish Civil War started in 1936).

          • ColdStanding

Franco also prevented the Nazi’s from taking the straights of Gibralter. If they did thea allies would have lost WWII.

Stalin is the second greatest mass murderer in history.

        Hitler is only third.

Sometimes you have to reflect on how you are naming things lesser and greater evils.

    • Paul

The Catholic Church in Spain during the Spanish Civil war (36-39) did not side with the Nazis, rather they took Franco’s side. Franco has often been called a Fascist but he was just a Conservative. Let’s not forget , approximately 10,000 bishops, priests, friars, monks, nuns and lay people were executed by the Republicans during Spain’s Red Terror. Communism , Marxism are for the atheists and therefore anti-God.and anti Catholic.

      • Art Deco

The Nationalist side was a fusion of Falangists and Carlists to which the Alfonsine monarchists signed on. The Falangists were the most proximate to other European fascist movements, though they looked upon them with reserve. The ‘Autonomous Right’ which had accepted parliamentary institutions also favored the Nationalist side, though Jose Maria Gil Robles went into exile and there was no militia which corresponded to it.

George Will’s description of Franco, “He had no ideology. Nothing was required to justify his right to rule”. If you read W. Lewis Amselem, the retired Foreign Service Officer who blogs as ‘Diplomad 2.0′, you might have noticed his take on Franco: Franco was an ‘anti-noisist’ as in ‘Stop that noise’. Franco was like your father: not all that interested in justice, very interested in silence.

Franco used Mussolini and Hitler. He cared nothing for their cause. “We will astonish them with our ingratitude”.

        • Glenn M. Ricketts

Greetings, Art Deco. Part of the trouble I encounter with the literature on the Spanish Civil War – which increasingly, it’s necessary to tell students even occurred – is that it gets overlaid with Cold War controversies. Stalin was a key outside player, and so for obvservers it immediately becomes a question of “McCarthyism” or “hysterical anti-communism” etc., etc., etc. But as Churchill put it quite some time ago in his own History of WW II, everything the Soviets did in Spain was came “directly from the Communist drill book.” Indeed, it did. Franco, as I said in a previous post was a jerk, but he was no Fascist and well this side of evil compared to Hitler and Stalin.
For my money, the works of Anthony Beevor, Burnett Bolloton and Stanley Payne are still among the very best works on this terrible episode, since they all brook no nonsense about Stalin’s role in the whole mess.

        • Maria Gabriela Salvarrey Rodri

I must say you have put it very well. I’d add one more thing. Franco was an excelent player. He played his cards well he knew when to hold them when to fold them and when to run (figuratively speaking). He played Hitler and Mussolini to his advantage excelently and when they no longer served him he turned his back and joined the allies. You can never argue he was virtous but he was no fanatic and by no means any mans fool.

    • Grandpa left SpanishAtheists

Okay the Socialists/Communists/Atheists of the Spanish Civil War (which was the only other option besides Franco) were a terrible murderous lot. May grandfather (who was a faithful young Catholic at the time) had to leave Spain & go to Mexico. These Spanish Commies were killing priests & Catholic lay leaders, raping/killing nuns & destroying churches. They would’ve been just as bad or (most likely) even worse than Franco. Socialism/Communism/Atheism (like the Moorish Muslims) INVADED Catholic Spain & would’ve turned Spain into a Soviet-like state. So in this sense, Franco was a parallel to the Spanish Reconquista (Ferdinand & Isabella reclaiming Spain to its Christian -not Muslim- roots.) I don’t like Franco but he was NO Fascist. He was a Restorationist/monarchist. Fascism (like Communism) is a revolutionary force, they want to radically revolutionize every aspect of society- religion (like making the State the object of our worship instead of God), education, culture, politics, etc. Franco wanted to restore Spain to its heritage (not radically revolutionize). Franco (who some suspected of being part Jewish, nobody is sure) didn’t support Hostility to Spanish Jews. Franco (although sometimes he tragically allied himself with Nazism & radical Fascist) always ultimately rejected the Nazi/fascist creed because of his Catholic faith. Franco saw how evil & anti-Catholic the Nazi creed was with its Neo-Paganism (worship of Nordic blood & “Aryans”), state-worship & elimination of the Jewishness of Christ Jesus & Jewish Old Testament (which is the Marcion heresy as the Catholic Church calls it). My point: Spanish Commies/Atheists/Socialists did horrendous violent acts & had Franco lost, they would’ve made things even worse than him. Franco was bad, but a Commie Atheistic Spain would’ve been worse- ask East Germans, ask Ex-Soviet countries, ask Gulag prisoners. The true nature & heritage of España (Spain) is Catholic Christianity- not the Islam & it’s invadors the Moors Nor Atheistism & Communism. This makes my Spanish blood boil when I see stupid modern culture & movies like Pans Labyrinth take Spain out of context & put it in Socialist fantasies.

It is astounding, reading writers who supported the Republican side, openly admitting that they had staged a revolution as soon as the war broke out and yet claiming to be the legitimate government.

        • Grandpa left SpanishAtheists

Yes, interesting to me too. The Republicans had their dangerous ideologies that were revolutionary in nature (like the Russian Bolsheviks) yet in a mutation to other Socialists/Marxist movements they went around parading as the establishment. Having a cake & eating it too, as they say

      • Watosh

I agree with everything you have said. However I have seen those on the other side of the conflict cite a litany of the terrible things Franco did. I actually protested this one sided cataloging of crimes since I had read one account by a neutral observer whose history of the Spanish Civil War was considered one of the most accurate, and another by a French historian who seemed to be objective and neither of these supported what the Socialist Liberal blogger stated as fact, in a comment. Of course the Socialist came back and dismissed my comments by telling me I was stupid and didn’t know what I was talking about. I often get this type of response from the hardliners here too. I find few people today care about the truth, they just want to use information that will support the causes they a want to advance.

        • Grandpa left SpanishAtheists

Oh I agree with you in stating that Franco was a very horrible dictator (I will not defend his many horrible acts), but my points which are based in studying history as a Spanish speaker & personal experience (as handed down by my grandpa/abuelo) are simple. 1) Communism/Socialism/Atheism (like Islam with the Moors) invaded Catholic Spain well before Franco & killed many Catholics & destroyed many Church property & openly hated the Church. 2) Franco was NOT a Fascist/Nazi (although he did tragically ally with them) for many reasons (that I stated above). 3) The alternative to Franco (“Republican” aka Socialist/Atheist Spain) would have been worse than Franco (as horrible as he was). Look at every nation that adopted Marxism, North Korea, Stalin’s Soviet Russia, Pol Pot’s Cambodia, China, Cuba, etc. Frankly, they are way worse than Franco. Spain would look many times worse today had the Atheists/Commies taken over: What gets me mad is when present-day culture comes up with books & movies depicting these Spanish “Republicans” as heroes & models & Franco as bad. Reality was Both were as bad, but Franco was by far the lesser of two evils. My Spanish grandpa fled to Mexico & married my Norteña Mexican grandma (both are on my mother’s side). And guess what my grandma’s (abuela’s) parents (my Mexican great-grandparents) had undergone? The Cristero Wars! Where Atheistic (though not Socialist, he was more Industrialist) President Calles tried to wipe out the Catholic Church from Mexico by having the federal soldiers & police kill priests, rape nuns & destroy churches. And they don’t even teach this history in Mexico because of the PRI leftist Party which Calles the Atheist founded. I went to grade school in Mexico & I was taught a PC version of history there, my abuelo’s had to teach me about the Cristero Wars. I’ve been blessed with devout Catholic Christians as part of my family history in Mexico but Catholics today so easily how fast the people who hate the Catholic Church can take over & attack the Church. I immigrated here, but a Pres. Calles the Atheist & Spanish Atheists who openly attacked the Church, spread fear about believing in The Lord our God, & kill Catholics can happen here too. The Christians in Mosul (where Mass is now banned) & Iraqi/Syrian Christians (Catholics & Orthodox) have realized this, Americans have not. Forgetting history too easily (or not even caring about history) is our problem as present-day Catholics. Holy Saints & Martyrs, pray that we may remember, never forget the Sacrifice

Franco, just a jerk? No. Another monster

              • Glenn M. Ricketts

I can’t agree. He was indeed a dictator, but doesn’t compare to the totalitarianism of Hitler, Stalin, Mao or the present regime in North Korea. A colleague of mine actually did a junior year abroad in Spain back in the early 1960s, something that would have been impossible in the Soviet Union under Stalin. She recalled that while political opposition was indeed repressed, although not totally, the Franco regime wasn’t much interested in what you did on your own time, as long as you stayed clear of politics. Something along the lines of the expression “Oderint dum metuant,” attributed, I believe, to Gaius Caligula. Stalin and Hitler had vastly longer enemies lists, infinitely expansive categories of political crimes and not surprisingly far surpassed Franco and other little tinpots in filling concentration camps and graveyards.

          • Glenn M. Ricketts

If I had to make quick comparison, I’d say that Franco, like Benito Mussolini, was a jerk. Hitler and Stalin. on the other hand, were monsters. We need a special category for their ilk.

            • Art Deco

              1. Hitler and Stalin were responsible for an ocean of misery

              2. The Ustase regime was one might wager as intense in its evil on the scale it could manage. Ditto the Arrow Cross in Hungary during their brief period in power (1944-45).

              3. The Antonescu regime in Roumania was stone cold. About 50% of the Jewish population was deported (and killed by the Nazis) in the exercise of their realpolitik.

              4. The Petain-Laval crew in France had a split disposition, treating it’s immigrant Jews approximately the way the Antonescu regime treated Roumania’s Jews but protecting French Jews.

              5. The Tiso regime in Slovakia also had a split disposition, deporting much of the Jewish population but then not co-operating further when the Holy See pressed on them the reality of what was being done to deported Jews.

              6. The Horthy regime in Hungary was anti-semitic in policy (slapping quotas on university admissions and occupational licensure) but did not do literal injury to its Jewish population, deport them, or confiscate their property, and Horthy and his allies did mount serious resistance to the German occupation in 1944 and 1945 which included attempts to protect the Jewish population.

              7. Mussolini in Italy (to 1943) and Tsar Boris in Bulgaria engaged in feints and double-dealing to protect their Jewish populations, most of whom managed to survive the war. The Holy See was a direct participant in hiding much of Italy’s Jewish population.

              8. There were elements in the Spanish political fabric hostile to the Jews (quite common among Carlists, alas), but Spain and Portugal did not participate in the abuse of any communal minority and functioned as conduits out of Europe.

You had a number of inter-war movements which had a disagreeable aspect but which were not notable participants in events after 1938. These would include the National Democratic Party in Poland (which had a large faction which favored expulsion of the Jewish population), the Fatherland Front in Austria (and its components), the IKL in Finland, the National Fascist Community in Bohemia and Moravia, the Iron Guard in Roumania (which was massacred and suppressed in 1940). The Austrian populace did not acquit itself well during the war and the place had a sorely anti-semitic political culture before the war, and it is easy to imagine the Iron Guard as enthusiastic participants in all manner of bloodletting. It’s difficult to tell, of course. IIRC, the Slovak People’s Party and the Croatian Party of Rights were ethnic particularists parties prior to the war, operating within parliamentary institutions. You would not have anticipated what happened later.

              • Glenn M. Ricketts

Thanks. As I said, it’s necessary to distinguish jerks from monsters. As the late Milton Himmelfarb observed more than 40 years ago in Commentary: “No Hitler, No Holocaust.”

            • Art Deco

Stanley Payne and others have had to assemble taxonomies because the absence of definitive texts or an institutional architecture which was absolutely signature makes it fuzzy just which political movements or regime can be classified as ‘fascist’ and which cannot.

              • Glenn M. Ricketts

I think you’re replying to my comment above? Anyway, I’ve always seen Franco as one who, while superficially resembling European fascist movements in some respects, was much more of a straightforward authoritarian military dictator, supported by the traditional elite elements in Spanish society.

I think he also realized that he had to tread carefully and avoid antagonizing the Spanish church, which was more semi-autonomous than in Italy, and certainly Germany, where the church was a large minority of about 30%, recently subject to Bismarck’s anti-Catholic measures of the 1870s.

I don’t have a soft spot for Franco, but if I had to choose among the alternatives in that unhappy time, I’d probably find it pretty easy to stick with him.

          • JanCosgrove1945

  • Watosh

Good, that will unify us, whip up anti-Moslem emotions and that will distract us from the things that will do in this country. The thing is we are not supposed to kill civilians or torture or destroy peoples homes and steal peoples land as this would normally be considered immoral, but if we declare war we can do all these things and get medals for it. Some Moslems are crazies, some are cruel, some make wild statements, which will be picked up and displayed prominently by the corporate news media, whereas wild statements by Israelis and they do make many, never appear in our corporate news media. Well that is why war is so attractive, it allows us to vent our rage and do things that normally would be considered immoral. People used to be advised that there are two sides to every question but if you consider the other side you develop qualms about destroying others. Take the Israeli’s who have taken the land that had been the homeland of Palestinians, they have occupied it for over sixty years, they have built settlements which is directly contrary to international law, and should the Palestinians resist the occupation, they are smashed with all the military technology given to Israel by the U.S. The refrain one hears over and over again is that Israel has a right to defend itself. I have never heard anyone claim that maybe the Palestinians might have a right to defend themselves. Menachim Begin and Yitzhak Shamir were terrorists, officially designated by the British Mandated Authority. The British even put out a poster offering a very large reward for bringing in Menachim Begin dead or alive. We are a Christian nation so before we wage war on some group, we demonize them don’t we. I am not defending Moslem evils, I am defending Catholic principles of seeking the truth rather than engaging in a contest to see who could bring up the worst actions of a group to justify dropping flechettes on their children.

    • Bill Russell

I find Begin (Shamir less so) a particularly unattractive figure, and an ingrate in view of the British attempts through its Mandate to bring some sanity to a most historically conflicted part of the world. But, while the comparison limps, do remember that the British Crown put a bounty on the capture of George
Washington. That is neither here nor there. What matters is that
Christians are being wiped out by those you defend. Israel is the only
democracy in the Middle East. Since 1948 it has made fertile that minute fraction of land
which for more than 1400 years was a goatherd economy, and which is unenviable for being the only parcel of the Middle East with no oil. The wealth of
Arabia is based on oil, and those deposits would still be underground were it not
for Western technology. Churchill spoke of Islam’s “improvident habits,
slovenly system of agriculture, sluggish methods of industry.” That
regressive culture now is eating away at Europe just as the Goths and
Vandals debilitated the Roman Empire. The Jewish state does not maim
or decapitate Jews who convert to Christianity, nor does it outfit suicide
bombers or employ children as military shields. The Jews do not
castrate homosexuals, stone adulterers, or forbid women to laugh (these are not eccentric laws , but central to Islam – the last one, censuring audible female laughter, was recently published by the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey .) I suppose he did not censure smiling only because since that is not visible beneath the mandated head coverings. – Nor does Judaism vaunt as its goal the destruction of Western civilization: a difference not without significance. There are only 12 million Jews in the world (just 0.2 % of the world’s population), and yet the Jews have earned over 20% of all Nobel prizes: among those, in science 41% in economics, 28% medicine, 26% physics, 19% chemistry. There are 1.4 billion Muslims in the world (21% of the world’s population) and they have won a total of six Nobel prizes (compared to 165 won by Jews) , and only three of those in hard physical sciences -(one of those six went to Yasser Arafat. for peace !) Thus all the Muslim Nobel prize winning scientists could fit on three camels or squeezed into the back seat of a Western-invented automobile. Most of us – including you and me – would not be alive today were it not for Jewish contributions to medical science. On the other hand, were Shariah law imposed, most of us who are practicing Christians, and not bourgeois dupes of a naive media and academia, would be dead, or at least be missing some of our appendages and punitively taxed. And goats would be grazing in Manhattan, And the editors of the New York Times would be headless, not that it would alter their editorial commentaries.

Well of course since Moslems are an inferior race the world would be better off without them, and besides we need oil. Many years ago when I went to work at a local mine as a summer job during college semesters, one miner I was working with started to tell me all the bad things another miner who was a neighbor did to him. Hearing this story I decided that the fellow who did these things was a pretty bad hombre. A week or two later I was working with this other fellow who did all the bad things. He brought the subject up and told me what actually happened. I was amazed, absolutely amazed because listening to his version, I found that while everything the the first fellow said was very true, but by omitting certain things he had painted a very bad picture of the second fellow. I have never forgotten this and so I always like to consider both sides to any story, I didm’t realize by so doing I was defending evil. But if you feel that way, then go ahead and burn all Moslems at a stake; don’t let my words stop you. You have definitely justified a pogrom against Moslems.

        • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

That’s exactly right. This anti-Muslim propaganda stoked by insufferable bloggers such as Deco and Evagrius is exactly akin to the anti-Jewish propaganda that set the stage for Hitler. Scandalous.

          • Glenn M. Ricketts

What specific “half truths” do you refer to? Some examples?

            • Art Deco

Do you really want an answer to that question? You’ve devoted much verbiage to a man who uses the term ‘evidence’ a lot and then hands you the issue of his imagination.

If you’re taking up a sideline in the helping professions, recall that talk therapies are not used anymore for schizophreniform disorders, for a reason.

              • Glenn M. Ricketts

Right. The answer hasn’t come yet, and I’m not expecting it.

          • Art Deco

Not sure who ‘Evagrius’ is. There was a chap who once used that handle at the “Get Religion” site, but he was a squishead protestant. I got banned at “Get Religion” consequent to asking him too many pointed questions.

The association between Haj Amin al Husseini and the Nazi regime is a historical fact and not a terribly obscure one. I first recall reading a newspaper op-ed on the subject more than 30 years ago. David Pryce-Jones has also written articles in opinion magazines on this very topic.

What Dr. Kilpatrick did not precisely say was that the Arab world (and some adjacent zones) has generally been quite fertile for revanchist politics, and, proximate to Israel, peculiarly unproductive revanchist politics. It takes several flavors: praetorianist (Nasser), unalloyedly fascist (the Ba’ath parties, the Syrian Popular Party), and Islamist, as well as fusions of same (Qaddafi). In different degrees and in different ways, Islamic forces can nestle satisfactorily within normal international politics (as they have for decades in Saudi Arabia) and (more uncertainly) parliamentary politics (jury’s still out re Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Turkey, Iraq).

The question is, of course, the degree to which the problem of Muslim revanchism is derived from abiding features of Islam as a religion and the degree to which it is derived from contemporary features of the social situation in the Arab world and adjacent areas. (Thomas Sowell offering a hypothesis has emphasized the reversal of fortune that area has suffered since the 17th century and that recrimination is the modal response to challenges of that sort). Looking at Europe and then at Israel and then at India, one does get the impression that Muslims and non-Muslims may be tragically incompatible within one set of political boundaries, at least as long as the dominant force lacks the drive and self-confidence to treat with asperity obnoxious Muslim agitators. Of course, ours does not and Britain’s does not, because as far as they’re concerned, the real enemy is the ‘bitter clingers’.

As for international politics, you cannot do much but defend yourself with vigor and take your opportunities when you sees ‘em, whether that’s through force, equipment of allies, or clandestine action. If Sowell is right, the political truculence within these societies is derived from forces which cannot be treated therapeutically or left to fester. Too bad, but that’s the world we live in (and the world Israel lives in and the world India lives in, and the world the more sensible element in the Muslim world lives in).

        • Glenn M. Ricketts

Watosh, this is a puzzling comment. Who here said anything about Muslims being a “race,” inferior or otherwise, or ridding the world of them, as your comment suggests? Islam, like Christianity, is a religion of many races.
And if oil is what we really want, why would we bother supporting the state of Israel, which economically isn’t worth much of anything to us? Why don’t we simply toss off the Israelis and go where the petroleum is? OPEC would probably give us a big discount, don’t you think? I’m asking seriously, not sarcastically. As this stands, it doesn’t make sense.

          • Watosh

Since you say you are serious, I will assume you are. Of course no one here ever said Muslims are an inferior race. But reading all the denunciations of Muslims and all the dirty deeds that were described, I was left with the impression that Muslims were the scum of the earth. I mean there were many comments about Muslims in that vein. I just drew the obvious conclusion one might if one judged the Muslims by what they said. Of course by not directly saying the Muslims while accusing them of all kinds of evil everywhere they were and in all their history proceeds deniability, while at the same time conveying that message. Sort of like President Obama when he said the Russians shot down the Malaysian airliner over the Ukraine, and then a couple sentences later he said we shouldn’t prejudge what happened. I don’t think we would endear ourselves to the oil countries by dropping support for Israel, actually Israel and Saudi Arabia were supportive of each other recently. Iraq has been destroyed now anyway, and as long as we pushed for regime change in Iran, which Saudi Arabia would like us to do as they are rivals, so dropping Isreal would not gain us much now. And since Israel controls our Congress dropping Israel is out of the question. As a former head of AIPAC once boasted that he could get 70 senators to sign on to any bill AIPAC submitted to Congress for passage within 24 hours. When Obama softened his stance slightly in discussions with Iran, I think AIPAC got the Senate to unanimously oppose that. Candidates for major federal offices find it obligatory to meet with AIPAC and profess their devotion to Israel. I am not being sarcastic or anti-Semitic, I am just reporting things that have occurred. Personally I have not nor never have believed any particular race is subhuman. We are all suffering from being born with the taint of original sin. In fact I have been pilloried elsewhere in these comments by some for what they consider my defense of these murderous, child killing Muslims.

            • Glenn M. Ricketts

Thanks for replying, but I’m afraid I’m still not clear. Do you mean to say that the “denunciations” of dirty deeds have no basis in fact? Surely you’re not saying that there are no Muslim terrorists, or that organizations like Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad or the Muslim Brotherhood are simply benevolent societies? As for AIPAC, I’m not sure what your point is there, either. There are scores of lobbying organizations in Washington – such as CAIR, on the other side – and they all engage in hyperbole, boasting, exaggeration of the threat from those other guys, etc. What do those remarks indicate to you? Sorry, but I’m not following you.

            • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

Child killing, both born and unborn, we all denounce, but the problem is, that when the IDF does it in plain sight (IDF soldiers have been bragging on blogs and Twitter about how many children they shot today with sniper rifles) it gets ignored or even defended with mental gymnastics? Why is this the case? Why would Catholics have such a double standard? I daresay it has to do with what Watosh rightly suggests as Zionist control of what is considered reasonable discourse in America. The left wants nothing negative said about Islamic motivated, Muslim crimes, and this is deplorable, but the right does the same with Zionist motivated crimes. As Catholics, we need to defend the victims of injustice everywhere, else we engage in what Rene Girard calls the neo-pagan scapegoating mechanism that diabolically imitates the redeeming act of Christ the Divine scapegoat.

      • Glenn M. Ricketts

Indeed. Israeli Arabs also hold more than a few seats in the Knesset, and the Muslim population enjoys the voting franchise, free speech rights and due process of law. There is also a fierce opposition press that often echoes the critical comments posted here and freedom of religion for Christians. None of this makes Israel faultless or beyond reproach, but I suggest checking the status of these items in say, Saudi Arabia, and I think one can’t but notice a distinct contrast.

      • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

Takfiri/ISIS are western Frankenstein monsters we helped to create to destabilise countries we wish to exploit, enslave economically, and rule by proxy puppets. That you think they are the real threat to Christianity and the West is exactly what you’re supposed to think.

Given that Crisis is a Catholic publication, one would think that those who read the Crisis articles would be largely Catholic and thus be more reasonable, and would be willing to engage in thoughtful discourse and be concerned about reaching the truth. Some of these comments are rather scary.

Yes, they are victims of the post 911 media/govt intelligence program of the demonization of Muslims, so much so that they are now finding “catholic” justifications of their mass murder in Gaza, and they confuse the victims with the aggressors. They confuse loving America with the immoral ideology of American exceptionalism, and they confuse supporting and loving Jews with the immoral ideology of Zionism. And they attack in a programmed fashion anyone who points out these confusions an propaganda influence with the most cliche and inane ad hominums and Fox News talking points.

Lots of undocumented/not referenced assertions and a flat out implied deception as to why a low-budget filmmaker was was arrested.

At the time of his arrest, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula was on parole for a bank fraud charge. A minor technical violation of his parole was the excuse for arresting him. But you do not usually send five sheriff’s deputies along with a news team to arrest a parole violator at 1 AM. The next day, a photo of the arrest was shown on the front page of many world newspapers (in some cases it was a full-page photo). Why? Because he had violated the terms of his parole? Or as an attempt to appease Muslim anger? Prior to his arrest, there were dozens and dozens of huge protests across the Muslim world, with numerous demands by prominent Muslims for his arrest (and not a few calls for his execution). The father of one of those slain at Benghazi recounted that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton assured him that “We’re going to have that person [the filmmaker] arrested and prosecuted” (R. Spencer, Arab Winter Comes to America, p. 155). Did Clinton want the man arrested because he violated his parole? Or was she yielding to pressure from the Muslim world?

In a previous article (accessible here: http://www.catholicworldreport.com/Item/2053/dont_be_blas_about_blasphemy.aspx), I did mention that Nakoula was jailed “ostensibly for probation violation.” But, as I said then, “those of a skeptical bent may be forgiven for doubting that parole violation is the real reason for his incarceration.” The story has been thoroughly covered in many places. I assumed that anyone fully acquainted with the facts surrounding the incidents would realize that the real reason for his arrest was the “crime” of insulting Muhammad. The charge of “deception” is unwarranted.

I invite any who cares to read to consider this: the hand of those that seek to gain domination over us, especially us Christians, is weaker than we have allowed ourselves to believe. They are bluffing. Now, it’s a high-stakes game. Nothing less than our immortal soul is on the line. A bluff well played can take many a pot, but be wise and call the bluff.

    Enough analogy.

Look at what you see on TV. Don’t take it at its two dimensional face value. Think about the means and ways by which it has come about that you see these images flicker before you. There are really very few people involved in producing TV, radio, and print. The influence they wield, I mean the chattering class, is gained entirely by acceptance. One need only cut the cord and their hold is lost. Their bluff is called.

I further propose: You want truth. It is truth that you hunger for. The Christian Catholic faith is where to find that truth. It is there in great abundance. Why else would our adversary, may God rebuke him we humbly pray, be striving so hard to stop us from investigating the truths of the faith?

Recently, I have been watching a fellow named David Wood debate muslims. I don’t know too much about him, but look him up on Youtube and decide for yourselves. I have found his videos to wonderfully free the mind from the fear that the media boogie man islam can generate. He is a protestant. However an enemy of my enemy can be my friend. He great loves our Lord. What I like most is the joy that he radiates as he debates. Very appealing. I also see books by St. Thomas Aquinas on his book shelf. That is cause for hope!

As long as we are dredging up past associations between the Nazis and religious authorities, let’s not leave out Pope Pius XII, and his connections to the notorious Ustashe collaborators among the Croatians during WWII, responsible for the murders of hundreds of thousands of Serbs. The pope knowingly suffered members of his own heirarchy and clergy in Croatia to engage directly in these mass-murders without so much as lifting a finger.

And let’s also not forget the notorious “Rat Lines,” whereby the Vatican, under Pius XII, helped funnel hosts of Nazi war criminals to South America in the years after WWII, in collaboration with the CIA. If you think that Pius XII himself wasn’t aware of, and ultimately approved of, this morally illicit traffic, then I have some prime swampland in Florida to sell you.

All it requires for Catholics to apprise themselves in abundant and verifiable detail of either one of these morally unconscionable collaborations with evil by a highly revered and VERY RECENT Roman Catholic pope is a simple google search – and an open mind.

Are there any with open minds on this website, with the courage to embrace the cognitive dissonance associated with some rather uncomfortable truths about the chief pastors of their religion?

A person with an open mind could begin with a google search, using it to find the serious historical scholarship that advances my thesis. I did it myself, years ago. But beginning the process requires a mind sufficiently open to the possibility that recent Catholic popes might be as guilty of unsavory connections to Nazis as the possibility raised by Kilpatrick that Muslims are. But such dispassionate openness to truth is evidently utterly lacking among those who frequent this website.

Serious scholarship also exists maintaining the opposite, and effectively revealing Rutler’s work to be a whitewash, falling into the same general category as the means used by Catholic heirarchs for decades to conceal the clerical sex abuse scandal.

Do you have a sufficiently open mind to read serious historical works that refute Rutler, and unambiguously implicate Pius XII in Ustashe crimes? If not, why not?

In light of what is now well known about the capacity of Catholic clerics – not excluding Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI – to cover up and dissemble about sex abusing clergy, why should it be easier for you to believe William Kilpatrick’s claims about Muslim collaboration with Nazis than serious historical works refuting Rutler?

What do you claim accounts for your immediate readiness to embrace Rutler, and your immediate dismissal of authors arguing the opposite, other than prejudice and a partisan spirit (against Muslims and on behalf of Catholic heirarchs) that is fundamentally at odds with a genuine and dispassionate love for truth?

let’s not leave out Pope Pius XII, and his connections to the notorious
Ustashe collaborators among the Croatians during WWII, responsible for
the murders of hundreds of thousands of Serbs

Let’s leave it out, because it is non-existent outside your imagination. He had no connection to the Ustashe.

And let’s also not forget the notorious “Rat Lines,” whereby the
Vatican, under Pius XII, helped funnel hosts of Nazi war criminals to

Okay let’s pretend your false premise (that Pope Pius X was a supporter of Nazis & hated Jews, a lie fabricated right after the War that has been numerously documented to be untrue, also read “Mit brennender sorge” the only German papal encyclical- directed against Nazis- which was collaborated by Pacelli/Pius) is true. Many Catholic Bishops & even Popes (including Pope St. John Paul II, who had dear Jewish friends in the Holocaust) have already publicly apologized for any involvement by Catholics in Nazism. When have any Muftis, Ayatollahs, Grand Immams or Caliphs (in the case of Iraq/Syria) ever publicly apologized for Muslims having supported Nazis & their ideology? Oh that’s right, never. In fact TODAY we hear Muslim leaders publicly DENY the Holocaust or calling for the destruction of Jews. Seriously, you live under a rock. Get your head off the sand

I have no doubt that many decent people, some of them priests and some of them Partisans, helped numerous Ustashe (or those labeled as such) to escape Yugoslavia after WWII rather than face the tender mercies of the Yugoslav Communist so-called judicial system. Some of those escapees presumably received the benefit of the doubt even though they did not deserve it. Even the US justice system, as imperfect as it is, has on a number of occasions released those accused of crimes when the conditions for a fair trial were deemed insufficient, and it would be naïve to think all of those released were innocent.

So what is the point here? You’re piling on Yugoslav Communist propaganda in an effort to claim what, exactly? That the Vatican was favorably disposed to a Nazi- puppet state it never even bothered to recognize, run by mosque-building Islamophiles?

A pox on Godwin’s Law. It’s time to start calling a spade a spade. Even as people make silly comparisons between those they disagree with and Nazis, there are people thinking and acting like fascists and self-censorship is making it worse. This excellent article shows the parallels with militant Islam. We are also seeing among western democracies a move toward ever-closer coordination between corporations and governments, growing police states that regard their own citizens as their main focus, and spread of the pernicious idea that civil rights are a threat to public safety and ideological outcomes. All these things are fascist.

Of course, the closest parallel to Nazism, as witnessed by Netanayahu’s continuing genocide against Gazans and the open air prison of Gaza Israel has created, is Zionism. That Kilpatrick would write this article at this time, when the obvious Nazilike regime is the state of Israel, shows his utter contempt for the truth, and for the lives of Palestinians.

    • MillerJM

Kilpatrick easily demonstrated his thesis with historical documentation. You’ve done nothing except espouse personal opinion and incendiary language. How about trying to back up your claim with evidence from reputable sources?

What I am righteously indignant about, as should all Catholics be, is the fact that at a time when Israel is committing genocidal war crimes against a defenseless population, and when the world is buying the ridiculous scapegoating lie that Israel is the victim and Hamas the murderer, Kilpatrick uses his public influence to write yet another article demonizing Muslims. The fact is that American and Israeli terrorism, motivated by the spiritual pathologies of Jewish and American exceptionalism and supremacy, is the real enemy of Catholicism and the good of the human race, as McMurtry shows here:

John McMurtry is a Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at the University of Guelph, Canada. In 2001, Prof. McMurtry was named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada for his outstanding contributions to the study of humanities and social sciences. His latest major works are his 15-year study, “The Cancer Stage of Capitalism: From Crisis to Cure” and three monumental volumes commissioned by UNESCO for its Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems entitled “Philosophy and World Problems.” McMurtry’s articles and writings regularly appear on different newspapers and online magazines across the world.

Prof. McMurtry took part in an in-depth interview with FNA and responded to some questions regarding the U.S. project of the War on Terror, its military interventions in Iraq and Afghanistan and the September 11, 2001 attacks. The following is the text of the interview.

Q: Prof. McMurtry; it was following the 9/11 attacks that the United States launched its project of War on Terror. The venture has so far cost the lives of thousands of innocent, unarmed civilians across the world, including in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia and Libya; however, the civilian cost of the Global War on Terror has been mostly ignored by the mainstream media and the politicians in the West. Why do you think they’ve overlooked the enormous rate of civilian casualties resulting from an endeavor which was purportedly aimed at exporting democracy and liberal values to the world?

A: In the US’s so-called War on Terror, by far the greatest and most systematic terrorization of civilians is in fact perpetrated by the US state itself. Unarmed citizens are murdered across the world as ‘collateral damage’, ‘illegal enemy combatants’ or other license of impunity. The US state conceives itself as above international law along with ally Israel, but this reality is taboo to report and so too all the killing and terrorization of civilians. One can truly say that “the historical record demonstrates the US is provably guilty of continual lawless mass murder of civilians across the world”, but the truth is unthinkable within the ruling ideological regime. Consider for example, the US-led deadly civil wars and coup d’etats in Venezuela and Ukraine as well as Libya and Syria. They mass terrorize and destroy societies into defenseless dependency so that their resources, lands and markets are “free” for transnational corporate exploitation. Yet the meaning is un-decoded. Ignorance is built into the syntax of acceptable thought.

Q: Many immigrants who seek refuge in United States from the four corners of the globe in search of a better and more prosperous life think of America as an absolutely free, democratic and open society with abundant opportunities for economic and social progress. However, you’ve argued, as many scholars did, that the United States is a police state. Would you please elaborate more on that? Do you believe that these immigrants and asylum-seekers are not told the whole truth about the United States or are somehow deceived?

A: Deception allies with ignorance. I define a police state as a society in which there is unlimited state power of armed force freely discharged without citizen right to stop it. While the men at the top always proclaim their devotion to the public good, an endless litany of crimes against human life is permitted by legally terrorist offices, central directives, and bureaucratic channels. Thus in “free and democratic America”, more citizens are caged than any country in the world, and over 80% have perpetrated no violence against [any] person. While the US accuses others of inhuman persecution and despotism, it holds the world records for caging non-violent people, for violent killings of civilians, for spy surveillance of everyone, and for mass murders of innocent people across international borders. Even kicking the tire of a VIP vehicle may be prosecuted as an act of “terrorism”. I have travelled alone with only backpack possession through the world, and have found no state in which police forces are more habituated to violent bullying, more likely to draw a gun, more discriminatory against the dispossessed, and more arbitrarily vicious in normal behavior. The US now leads the globe in an underlying civil war of the rich against the poor.

Q: What’s your viewpoint on the recent laws and legislations that have stipulated limitations on the civil liberties of the U.S. citizens, including the PATRIOT Act of 2001, which was widely criticized and protested at? It’s seen as a discriminatory measure that violates the privacy of the American citizens and the foreign nationals traveling in the States. Isn’t it so?

A: The repression of civil rights by the US goes far deeper than violation of citizen privacy to which the media confine themselves. The Patriot Act together with other laws like the Military Commissions Act, the Defense Authorization Act, the Homeland Security Act and the Protect America Act, mutating to the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act, form a systematic curtailment of civil rights and freedoms. Spying on everyone across borders is the accompanying apparatus of the National Security Agency which has been recently exposed in its totalitarian global snooping and dirty tricks. Department analyst Daniel Ellsberg of the Pentagon Papers summarizes the post-9/11 situation in the US as “a coup … a steady assault on every fundamental of our Constitution for executive government to rule by decree”. What makes these new laws and licenses tyrannical is their selective suspension of established constitutional rights to habeas corpus, the right of the accused to see evidence against him/her, the right to one’s chosen legal defense, the right to trial without indefinite detention, and other rights of due process of law including to free speech and organization that can be construed as supporting “illegal enemies”. As to who these “illegal enemies” are, this is determined by the US president without legal criterion, proving evidence or verification required. The US can thus detain, kidnap and imprison without trial or indictment any US citizen or other citizen anywhere by designating them enemies to the US. This arbitrary power has most infamously instituted US presidential right to kill individuals and those around them at will by robot killer drones – all crimes against humanity and war crimes under international law, but again taboo to report in the mass media or question in international security meetings themselves.

Q: The U.S. government has traditionally supported the oppressive regimes that are widely considered as dictatorial and tyrannical. Some examples include the successive U.S. governments’ support for the regimes in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and Israel. Isn’t such an approach contrary to the democratic principles which the U.S. Constitution is said to be oriented on?

A: Certainly the US has long supported dictatorial and tyrannical regimes. In fact US corporations and banks led the funding and arming of Hitler and the Nazis even during the 1939-45 War, and official US support of murderous dictatorships afterwards has been normalized since the CIA’s foundation in 1947. In the years since 9/11, US government has covertly directed funding and arming of the most destructive armed forces including jihadists, not only in the nations you mention, but in Syria and before that Libya, Iraq, Somalia, and Afghanistan and many much less known places like Mali. Ukraine has been similarly launched into civil war and escalated oppression by US-led destabilization, covert Special Forces, and local fascists.

Yet the US Constitution itself has no clear resource to prevent such international crimes, the founding US fathers themselves being mainly rich slave owners and leaders of the genocidal Western expansion against first peoples which England had forbidden in 1763. In fact, despite some stirring phrases without binding force, the ultimate concern of the US Constitution is the protection of private property and wealth at the top against the masses and democratic reversal. The ultimately governing value is profitable and unfettered private commerce, the “commerce clause” being the only way found to enforce the civil rights of Blacks. The opening slogans of “life, liberty and pursuit of happiness” seem inspiring except that happiness cannot be pursued, life needs do not ever enter into consideration, and liberty without the means to exercise it is nonsense.

Bear in mind that Supreme Court decisions have further granted the constitutional freedom of private money hoards to control politicians, public speech and elections themselves. Transnational corporations which are the global vehicles of the world’s ruling money sequences have at the same time multiplying powers with no obligations, while other societies’ rights have been effectively erased by international trade treaties which recognize only corporate rights and strip societies of their economic sovereignty and public resources. Corporate rights to dominate public speech and elections have been twisted out of even the Constitution’s Fifth Amendment protecting the civil rights of ex-slaves. In short, a near total expropriation of rights by Big Money has shown how anti-democratic the US Constitution has been made. I think that only the rule of life-protective law with the force of international law can regulate this global money-power dictatorship back into coherence with life support requirements now violated at every level, with or without a revolutionary uprising.

Q: Over the course of 20th century, the United States has been involved in several covert foreign regime change actions, and as the Foreign Policy magazine notes, it has toppled seven governments in the last 100 years through masterminding and engineering coups across the world, including the 1953 coup d’etat against the popular government of Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh or the 1973 coup in Chile that brought down the government of President Salvador Allende. Is such sponsorship of coups and regime change actions the characteristic feature of a democratic, peace-loving government?

A: There has been almost no coup or government overthrow since 1945 not led by the US. The examples you give of Mosaddegh and Allende are sea-changes of history in which elected, socially responsible and peaceful governments led by men of the very highest quality have been criminally usurped. This perpetual and increasing destabilization of other states and societies along with other gravely degenerate trends are systematically tracked in my 15-year study The Cancer Stage of Capitalism/ from crisis to cure. In the US itself, the three powers of supreme legislature, executive and court are now all controlled by the same money party selecting for the same full-spectrum predation of life and life support systems everywhere to multiply themselves. Yet still the long record of the US state and its oligarch allies destroying societies across the world is unspeakable in the mass media because they themselves are financed and advertised in by the same transnational corporations that demand the resources and territories of societies everywhere. The carcinogenic global causal mechanism is ever more evident and catastrophic, but not recognized.

Q: More than a decade after the 9/11 attacks, there are still several unanswered questions about the tragic event, including the origins and motives of the perpetrator, the role of foreign intelligence organizations in masterminding the attacks and the behind-the-scenes benefits of the attacks for the U.S. military-industrial complex. As you note in your writings, it was not Osama bin Laden who spearheaded the 9/11 attacks. Who is the real culprit? Did the 9/11 attacks play into the hands of the Bush administration to set in motion its lethal project of War on Terror and start invading different countries?

A: My recent monograph on the Internet, “The Moral Decoding of 9-11: Beyond the U.S. Criminal State” is a definitive answer to these questions. The turning-point event is laid bare step by step as a mass-murderous construction whose scenario is anticipated and contrived by US geostrategic planners with the official investigation completely concealing the basic fact that fireproofed steel infrastructures collapsed at the speed of gravity into their own footprints against the laws of physics. Moreover the first question of forensic justice – cui bono, who benefits? – is ruled out from the start, although every subsequent policy, decision and new power served the interests of the Bush Jr. regime and the US military-oil complex against the welfare of the American public and the world, especially Iraq, Afghanistan and Iran.

Unfortunately conspiracy theories miss the inner logic of the strategic event and the system disorder driving it. The official conspiracy theory is absurd, but every disbeliever in it is pilloried as a ‘conspiracy theorist’ – the reverse projection which is the signature operation of US propaganda. Always blame others for what the US does as the reason for attacking them. One might laugh at the same old propaganda psy-op and fabrications trotted out endlessly, but the terrible reality is the 9/11 construction has had effectively sabotaged international progress in solving the world’s gravest problems. It has dismantled the global peace movement that was reaching an historical peak in 2001 to stop US-led militarism after the Cold War. It has successfully suppressed world-wide uprisings against a US-led global corporate dictatorship despised and opposed by ever more citizens across America, Europe and the world. It has even formed the draconian laws and police practices needed to squash the world-wide environmental movement across the world at same time. 9/11 has, in short, vastly empowered the corporate money system devouring human and planetary life by falsifying opponents as “terrorists”. But who joins the dots of the Great Repression?

Q: Since its inception 66 years ago, CIA has been involved in numerous covert sabotage, anti-sabotage, assassination, propaganda, destruction and subversion plans against other countries, and during the course of all these covert actions, it has violated different internationally recognized treaties and regulations as well as the sovereignty and territorial integrity of these nations. Are these actions and gambits legal or illegal? If they are illegal, then why doesn’t any international organization investigate the crimes and hold the U.S. government accountable?

A: Yes this is a turning-point issue of the world. But the US record as a rogue state is unspeakable in the mass media because they are financed and advertised in by the same transnational corporations that demand the resources and territories of the world by threat of trade-investment embargo and the point of the gun of US and NATO forces. This is what the lawless but unnamed US reign of terror achieves – not only by war crimes and crimes against humanity, but by economic ruin for any society resisting transnational trade treaties and demands which recognize only foreign corporate rights to profit. If the underlying causal mechanism is taboo to recognize, unaccountability is the result. Blame is instead diverted to US-designated enemies – like Iran or Russia or Venezuela – and the society-destroying disorder rampages on.

In fact there are many life-protective international laws to hold the US accountable to, but every one of them is repudiated by the US so as not to apply to itself ; laws and conventions against nuclear weapons, biological weapons, chemical weapons, landmines, small arms, international ballistic missiles, torture, racism, sexism, child abuse, arbitrary seizure and imprisonment, crimes against humanity and war crimes, military weather distortions, biodiversity loss, and international climate destabilization. Yet this record remains taboo to track or publish even as the US demonizes others for “defying the laws and norms of the international community”.

The US and ally Israel thus violate the laws against armed aggression, occupation and crimes against humanity at will, but who even knows or cites the laws? For example, when the US was about to perpetrate the supreme crime of invasion against Iraq in 2003 with no lawful grounds, no-one raised the issue at the Security Council, including the Iraqi diplomat there. As one who later debated on Canadian public television a leading US geostrategic analyst three days before the criminal bombing of Baghdad began, my statement that he was “advocating war crime and should be arrested for doing so” was deleted from the live broadcast. The cornerstone of international law is thus silenced while the media go on calling opponents “unpatriotic” or “terrorists” – as in Nazi Germany. If law-abiding states do not stand and join for the rule of international life-protective law, there seems no end.

It’s a war crime but not genocide. The actions of Hamas are also war crimes & worse. When Nazis bombarded London with the Luftwaffe & likewise the British bombarded German cities with their own war bomb planes, neither power warned the citizens sleeping in those cities at night. The Israeli government repeatedly warned Hamas to stop, they didn’t. Before bombing them, the Israeli military warned Gazans to go on shelters or flee by throwing many many fliers into Gaza. They could have not done the fliers & warnings & just indiscriminately bomb everything like the British & Nazis, but they didn’t because the State of Israel (however flawed) cares more about human lives than Hamas, which uses human beings as shields. Hamas must leave Gaza. It’s the only way forward for a free Palestine.

Thaddeus, seriously, do you honestly see the Israelis engaged in “genocide?” What you cite above was indeed an abuse or a crime and was denounced as such in Israel. But is the Israeli government literally engaged in an organized, planned, calculated effort to eliminate Palestinians? That’s what genocide means, doesn’t it?
It’s a very heavy charge of monstrous intentions and conduct. What evidence can offer in support of it?

              • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

Thanks for your question. Yes, the evidence points to a planned genocide and eventual Israeli take over of all the Palestinian land. For evidence of this, you could start with the work of Norman Finkelstein and Alison Weir, and start reading Information Clearing House, Globalresearch.ca, Paul Craig Roberts, RT Crossfire, and antiwar.com.

                • Glenn M. Ricketts

I am familiar with their works – none of them very recent – but I don’t see how that amounts to “genocide” in the present case. As I said in an earlier post, some of the fiercest critics of Netenyahu, etc. can be found in the Israeli press, including in this instance. I think I need something far more substantial than what you cite here.

                  • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

Do you see any sign that Netanyahu intends to stop bombing women and children?

                    • Glenn M. Ricketts

I think he might, if Hamas did not choose to deploy its forces in their midst, and commence bombardments from those positions – something similar to what the Japanese government did towards the end of WW II, when it set up military production in civilian households Obviously, both sides have a moral obligation to differentiate to the greatest possible extent, and should neither target civilians nor use them as shields. But your charge was deliberate genocide, and I don’t see that here at all.

“The Zionist Dream Is Based On Slaughter Of Innocents.”
Henry Siegman, Former Head of the American Jewish Congress

A former leader of American Jewish Congress has strongly condemned Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip, saying “the Zionist dream is based on slaughter of innocents.”

Henry Siegman, former executive director of the American Jewish Congress and president of the US/Middle East Project, made the remarks in an interview with the Democracy Now! news program in New York on Wednesday.

“The Zionist dream is based on the repeated slaughter of innocents on a scale that we’re watching these days on television, that is really a profound, profound crisis,” Siegman said.

Israeli warplanes have been carrying out incessant airstrikes against the blockaded coastal territory since July 8. On July 17, thousands of Israeli soldiers launched a ground invasion into the densely-populated strip.

Some 1,370 Palestinians have been killed, including women and children, and thousands others injured by the Israeli regime’s offensive against the coastal enclave despite pressure from the international community. The United Nations says over 80 percent of the fatalities in Gaza have been civilians.

Israel’s ongoing deadly offensive in Gaza is “disastrous, both in political terms, which is to say the situation cannot conceivably, certainly in the short run, lead to any positive results, to an improvement in the lives of either Israelis or Palestinians,” said Siegman, a German-born American Jew who is a leading expert on the Middle East and a vocal critic of the Israeli apartheid regime.

“And of course it’s disastrous in humanitarian terms, the kind of slaughter that’s taking place there,” he added.

Siegman said Tel Aviv could have prevented the disaster that is being played out by ending the occupation of the Palestinian territories in the first place. “Couldn’t Israel be doing something [to prevent] this disaster that is playing out now, in terms of the destruction of human life? Couldn’t they have done something that did not require that cost? And the answer is, sure, they could have ended the occupation.”

Siegman, a former Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, refers to Israel as a “de-facto apartheid” regime and said, in 2012, that the “two-state solution is dead.”

He has also denounced the so-called peace process in the occupied Palestinian territories as a “scam” because of a “consensus reached long ago by Israel’s decision-making elites that Israel will never allow the emergence of a Palestinian state.”

                • Glenn M. Ricketts

Thanks Thaddeus, but these still amount to argument by assertion or appeals to authority. We need something much more solid to sustain a charge of genocide.

                  • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

                    Some evidence:

                    1. There are now 7 million Palestinian refugees (4.3 million registered with the UNHCR); 85% of Christian Palestinians have fled.

                    2. 1.5 million Palestinian Israelis live under race-based Apartheid laws (Nazi- and Apartheid-style compulsory race-based ID at all times; race-based marriage prohibition laws; race-based discrimination over property acquisition, property rights, social participation, travel in their own country and family reunion).

                    3. 4 million Occupied Palestinians are held as prisoners in increasingly abusive conditions in what outstanding Jewish American scholar Professor Noam Chomsky of the 63-Nobel-Laureate MIT describes as a “Prison” (they are held without charge or trial in effectively several major Concentration Camps – Gaza, Samaria and Judaea; their capital city has been stolen and violated together with the Third most Sacred site in Islam).

                    4. Post-invasion excess deaths (violent and non-violent avoidable deaths from bombs or bullets or deprivation, respectively; deaths that did not have to happen) now total 0.3 million and post-invasion under-5 infant deaths total 0.2 million.

                    5. Annual Occupied Palestinian avoidable under-5 infant deaths total 2,400; annual violent deaths total about 800 (20% children); annual excess deaths total 5,000 – deaths in custody at the hands of a racist, Apartheid regime.

                    6. It has cost the American taxpayer about $3 trillion (see: http://mwcnews.net/content/view/223… ) plus a further $3.5 trillion accrual cost of the racist Zionist-backed War on Terror (see: http://mwcnews.net/content/view/223… ).

This racist, genocidal horror was inevitable from the outset in the late 19th century when the Zionists set out a “me too” program of racist colonization to mimic what Western Europeans were already doing on every continent – the Americas (genocide of the Indigenous Indians in Canada, the US, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay); horrendous racist colonization and mass murder in West Africa, East Africa and Southern Africa (10 million died in the Belgian Congo alone); the Aboriginal Genocide in Australia, and the Maori Genocide in New Zealand; slavery and mass Indigenous death from introduced disease in the Pacific; and mass murder in Asian (excess deaths from the British enslavement of India 1757-1947 total 1.5 BILLION; excess deaths in China from the Opium Wars and the Tai Ping rebellion associated with Western encroachments totalled 20-100 million) (see: “Body Count. Global avoidable mortality since 1950”, G.M. Polya, Melbourne, 2007: http://mwcnews.net/content/view/137… and http://globalbodycount.blogspot.com/ ; see also Lindqvist, S. (1992), Exterminate All the Brutes (Granta Books, London, 2002) ).

Zionism founder Theodor Herzl was explicit in stating the racist agenda of Zionism in a more general context of European colonial racism 112 years ago (1896) in “Der Judenstaat” (“The Jewish State”, see Chapter 2, sub-heading “Palestine or Argentine?”: http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org… ); thus the following QUOTE.

“If His Majesty the Sultan were to give us Palestine, we could in return undertake to regulate the whole finances of Turkey. We should there form a portion of a rampart of Europe against Asia, an outpost of civilization as opposed to barbarism. We should as a neutral State remain in contact with all Europe, which would have to guarantee our existence.”

Theodor Herzl’s 1896 dismissal of the great Asian civilizations – Mesopotamia, Iran, Turkestan, India, China, Japan, Korea, Burma, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Sri Lanka etc – as “Asian barbarism” is mirrored by the extraordinary (to decent folk) assertions of an Israeli Ambassador to Australia in 2006 as QUOTED below.

“Israel and Australia are like sisters in Asia. We are in Asia without the characteristics of Asians. We don’t have yellow skin and slanted eyes. Asia is basically the yellow race. Australia and Israel are not – we are basically the white race. We are on the western side of Asia and they are on the southeastern side. Israel has not fully acknowledged the value of working together with Australia in Asia. It’s a way for us to cooperate with and enhance our position in the countries neighboring Australia.” (see top Israeli newspaper Haaretz: http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages… ).

This anti-Asian sentiment was translated into horrible reality with the (continuing) genocide of the Palestinians, 60 years of violent attacks on its Arab neighbours and sustained Apartheid Israeli support for the African- and Indian-suppressing, neo-Nazi Apartheid régime in South Africa (see: Blum, W. (2006), Rogue State, A guide to the world’s only superpower (Zed Books, London)).

However there is a further shocking dimension to the human cost of Israel, namely the effect on excess death in its neighbours due to its war and occupation policies. Using UN Population Division data one can estimate that the 1950-2005 excess deaths in all countries partly occupied by the State of Israel in the last 60 years totalled 24 million. The breakdown (1950-2005 excess deaths/2005 population) for the State of Israel and its violated neighbours is as follows: Israel [0.095m/6.685m =1.4%] – Egypt [19.818m/74.878m = 26.5%], Jordan [0.630m/5.750m = 11.0%], Lebanon [0.535m/3.761m = 14.2%], Occupied Palestinian Territories [0.677m/3.815m = 17.7%], Syria [2.198m/18.650m = 11.8%], total = 23.858m/106.854 = 22.3% (see: “Body Count. Global avoidable mortality since 1950” (G.M. Polya, Melbourne, 2007: http://mwcnews.net/Gideon-Polya/).

Apartheid Israel and its racist Anglo-American backers can be seen as not merely anti-Arab anti-Semitic (ethnic cleansing Indigenous Arab Palestinians) but also anti-Jewish anti-Semitic by grossly violating the core moral messages from the Jewish Holocaust – “zero tolerance for racism” and “never again to anyone”.

In the over 40 year occupation and mass imprisonment of the Occupied Palestinian Territory (current population about 4 million), post-1967 excess deaths total 0.3 million and post-invasion under-5 infant deaths total 0.2 million. There are 7 million Palestinian refugees; 2,400 Occupied Palestinian infants are “passively murdered” by war criminal Apartheid Israel EVERY YEAR; 85% of Indigenous Palestinian Christians have fled; and outstanding Jewish South African Government Minister and hero in the fight against Apartheid, Ronnie Kasrils, describes the Zionist-occupied Holy Land as “worse than Apartheid”

                    (see: http://www.mg.co.za/articlepage.asp… ).

Wonderful, anti-racist, humanitarian British and Australian Jews are speaking out against Apartheid Israeli crimes against humanity – see Independent Jewish Voices ( IJV: http://jewishvoices.squarespace.com/ ) and Independent Australian Jewish Voices (IAJV: http://www.iajv.org/ ). See also “Apartheid Israel’s 60 Years of War, Theft & Palestinian Genocide “: http://mwcnews.net/content/view/223… ).

We cannot walk by on the other side – but what can we do? All decent folk must (a) follow the example of anti-racist, humanitarian Jews of IJV and IAJV and SPEAK OUT against Apartheid Israel and (b) apply national and international Sanctions and Boycotts against racist Zionist-run Apartheid Israel and its Zionist-Bush-ite backers in order to STOP the Holocaust-defiling, anti-Jewish anti-Semitic and anti-Arab anti-Semitic Racist Zionists (RZs) NOW – it worked against Anglo-America- and Apartheid Israel-backed Apartheid South Africa 2 decades ago and should be successful against Anglo-American-backed Apartheid Israel TODAY.

                    • Glenn M. Ricketts

Thaddeus, these are pieces from different times and circumstances, many of them little more than op-eds. Obviously, you’re in agreement with them, but they’re little more than polemics. As I said a moment ago, there’s plenty of that on all sides of this unfortunate conflict.

                    • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

Well, there is more substantial evidence for my claims, but this isn’t the forum for that. In any event, I am glad you are engaging with me in such a respectful manner. Thanks for that, and all the best. Alison Weir has some substantial historical pieces on the Palestinian situation, and Paul Craig Roberts backs up his opinion pieces with much evidence. The essential thing is to be able to distinguish propoganda from legitimate argument and evidential opinions. We are awash in propaganda on both the right and the left. I have written on this topic over at Ethika Politika and Anamnesis Journal, and my work in Modern Age and Second Spring, as well as my book, “The Political Problem of Religious Pluralism” (with a Foreword by Father James Schall) treats the underlying issues in some philosophical and theological depth.

                    • Glenn M. Ricketts

I read all of those, and I’ll have a look. But if this isn’t the forum for “more substantial evidence,” wouldn’t you think it prudent to moderate a charge of “genocide” unless that evidence is forthcoming? Why not just advance a carefully hedged, qualified opinion in that case, especially if you’re accusing someone else of such conduct as “genocide?” Just a suggestion, in all charity.

                    • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

I think the accurate term for what Israel has been and is now doing to the Palestinians is genocide and apartheid. The only reason this seems extreme or rash is due to the nature of the discourse. When such a term is used to describe the, in many ways, manufactured “enemies” du jour of the United States Empire or the State of Israel, then no language is too extreme. If I’ve gotten anyone to think again about their views on the continuing Gaza massacre, then that’s good. Notice, however, as Watosh makes clear, no language can be extreme and denuciatory enough when it comes to Muslims on this site. Again, this seems ok due to the poisoned discourse of American intellectual life.

                    • Glenn M. Ricketts

There again, I’m not sure how reach that conclusion. Israel is probably the single most unpopular denounced country, while most campuses do backwards somersaults to combat “Islamophobia.’ Even Brandeis University bailed out on giving Ayann Hirsi an award – despite her horrendous experience as a Muslim woman – for fear of “intolerance” or “misunderstanding.” Ant-Israel divestment campaigns are all the rage, often supported by Jewish student groups. And what do you mean by “manufactured enemies?” Were the 2001 terror bombings – among many. many others – imaginary? I wish they were.

                    • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

As I say, there is a stranglehold on discourse, quite Orwellian, and the right and left have their own versions of it.

You’ll have to look into the manufactured enemies and false-flag terrorism issues yourself. There’s a lot of good scholarship out there on this. Start with GlobalResearch.ca.

We are all witnessing, right now, a false-flag terror event narrative being constructed, namely, the blaming of Russia, with all the evidence pointing away from Russia as the culprit, for the MH-17 shootdown. Try to look into who would be behind such a massive propaganda campaign, and who could control the discourse so effectively. And there’s more where that came from in the past decades.

Who do you think is supporting ISIS, the neo-Nazi Ukraine coup, Al-Qaeda? Truth is stranger than fiction sometimes. I wish Catholics would wake up to this for the good of the Church and the world.

                    • Glenn M. Ricketts

Stranglehold by whom? Where? What “false flag” terrorism? Examples?

                    • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

Good questions, and I hope you find persuasive answers. Signing off now. Thanks for a good discussion.

                    • Glenn M. Ricketts

Same to you, and I’ll keep searching.

              • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

Or what about the wise religious leaders who have been so exemplary in their restraint? Like the Secretary General of the World Youth Movement, Rabbi Bnei Akiva, who called upon Netanyahu to turn the IDF into an “army of avengers which will not stop at 300 Philistine foreskins”? Or Dov Lior, Chief Rabbi of Hebron, who just posted a Halakhic ruling stating that it is totally acceptable for Israelis to punish the civilian population of Gaza in any way possible, including “bomb[ing] the whole area … to exterminate the enemy,” giving the Minister of Defense explicit permission “to instruct even the destruction of Gaza.” A final solution to the Arab question?

                • Glenn M. Ricketts

What about it? Those are indeed incendiary words, but we could just as easily find similar examples from Palestinian advocates, couldn’t we? In neither case does it amount to a deliberate policy, as you are alleging.

                  • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

                    You’re being obtuse:

As we watch the horrifying slaughter unfold in Gaza, bear in mind the Israeli psychosis that fuels and justifies it. Here are comments from three rightwing Israelis – two leading politicians and a professor – who very much reflect a strain of mainstream thinking in Israel, one that the international media largely avoids noting.

Each, in their different ways, is advocating a genocide of the Palestinians.

Ayelet Shaked, of economics minister Naftali Bennett’s Jewish Home party, calls on her Facebook page for murdering the mothers of what she terms Palestinian “terrorists” (a very broad concept indeed in current Israeli thinking) so that they cannot give birth to more “little snakes”:

They have to die and their houses should be demolished so that they cannot bear any more terrorists. They are all our enemies and their blood should be on our hands. This also applies to the mothers of the dead terrorists. …

[The terrorists] are all enemy combatants, and their blood shall be on all their heads. Now this also includes the mothers of the martyrs, who send them to hell with flowers and kisses. They should follow their sons, nothing would be more just. They should go, as should the physical homes in which they raised the snakes. Otherwise, more little snakes will be raised there.

Mordechai Kedar, a lecturer on Arabic literature at Bar Ilan University, believes the sisters and mothers of Palestinian “terrorists” should be raped:

A terrorist, like those who kidnapped the boys [in the West Bank on June 12] and killed them, the only thing that will deter them, is if they know that either their sister or mother will be raped if they are caught. What can we do? This is the culture that we live in.

Note that his university did not reprimand him. They defended his comments:

The purpose was to define the culture of death of the terrorist organizations. Dr Kedar illustrated in his words the bitter reality of the Middle East and the inability of a modern and law-abiding country to fight the terror of suicide bombers.

And finally we have Moshe Feiglin, a deputy speaker of the Israeli parliament and a member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party, urging the Israeli army to kill Palestinians in Gaza indiscriminately and use every means possible to get them to leave:

[Netanyahu] announces that Israel is about to attack military targets in their area and urges those who are not involved and do not wish to be harmed to leave immediately. Sinai is not far from Gaza and they can leave. This will be the limit of Israel’s humanitarian efforts. … All the military and infrastructural targets will be attacked with no consideration for ‘human shields’ or ‘environmental damage’. …

The IDF will conquer the entire Gaza, using all the means necessary to minimize any harm to our soldiers, with no other considerations. … The enemy population that is innocent of wrong-doing and separated itself from the armed terrorists will be treated in accordance with international law and will be allowed to leave. Israel will generously aid those who wish to leave.

This psychosis is not going to get better on its own. In fact, it’s going to get much worse. How much worse will depend entirely on the continuing inaction of western leaders.

                    • Glenn M. Ricketts

Not obtuse, I think, just unconvinced. I could cite similar sources and polemics from all sides in this mess, and it would simply illustrate the tendency we all have to cherry-pick items that support a particular case.

              • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

Ok, signing off now. I’ll leave you with this commentary. Thanks for your genuinely reasonable and generous dialectic with me. I hope we are both the better for it:

“Looking to the Side, From Belsen to Gaza”

A genocide is engulfing the people of Gaza while a silence engulfs its bystanders. “Some 1.4 million people, mostly children, are piled up in one of the most densely populated regions of the world, with no freedom of movement, no place to run and no space to hide,” wrote the senior UN relief official, Jan Egeland, and Jan Eliasson, then Swedish foreign minister, in Le Figaro. They described people “living in a cage,” cut off by land, sea and air, with no reliable power and little water and tortured by hunger and disease and incessant attacks by Israeli troops and planes.

Egeland and Eliasson wrote this four months ago as an attempt to break the silence in Europe whose obedient alliance with the United States and Israel has sought to reverse the democratic result that brought Hamas to power in last year’s Palestinian elections. The horror in Gaza has since been compounded; a family of 18 has died beneath a 500-pound American/Israeli bomb; unarmed women have been mown down at point-blank range. Dr. David Halpin, one of the few Britons to break what he calls “this medieval siege”, reported the killing of 57 children by artillery, rockets and small arms and was shown evidence that civilians are Israel’s true targets, as in Lebanon last summer. A friend in Gaza, Dr. Mona El-Farra, e-mailed: “I see the effects of the relentless sonic booms [a collective punishment by the Israeli air force] and artillery on my 13-year-old daughter. At night, she shivers with fear. Then both of us end up crouching on the floor. I try to make her feel safe, but when the bombs sound I flinch and scream…”

When I was last in Gaza, Dr. Khalid Dahlan, a psychiatrist, showed me the results of a remarkable survey. “The statistic I personally find unbearable,” he said, “is that 99.4 per cent of the children we studied suffer trauma. Once you look at the rates of exposure to trauma you see why: 99.2 per cent of their homes were bombarded; 97.5 per cent were exposed to tear gas; 96.6 per cent witnessed shootings; 95.8 per cent witnessed bombardment and funerals; almost a quarter saw family members injured or killed.” Dr. Dahlan invited me to sit in on one of his clinics. There were 30 children, all of them traumatized. He gave each pencil and paper and asked them to draw. They drew pictures of grotesque acts of terror and of women streaming tears.

The excuse for the latest Israeli terror was the capture last June of an Israeli soldier, a member of an illegal occupation, by the Palestinian resistance. This was news. The kidnapping a few days earlier by Israel of two Palestinians — two of thousands taken over the years — was not news. An historian and two foreign journalists have reported the truth about Gaza. All three are Israelis. They are frequently called traitors. The historian Ilan Pappe has documented that “the genocidal policy [in Gaza] is not formulated in a vacuum” but part of Zionism’s deliberate, historic ethnic cleansing. Gideon Levy and Amira Hass are reporters on the Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz. In November, Levy described how the people of Gaza were beginning to starve to death . . . “there are thousands of wounded, disabled and shell-shocked people unable to receive any treatment . . . the shadows of human beings roam the ruin… they only know the [Israeli army] will return and what this will mean for them: more imprisonment in their homes for weeks, more death and destruction in monstrous proportions.”

Amira Hass, who has lived in Gaza, describes it as a prison that shames her people. She recalls how her mother, Hannah, was being marched from a cattle-train to the Nazi concentration camp at Bergen-Belsen on a summer’s day in 1944. “[She] saw these German women looking at the prisoners, just looking,” she wrote. “This image became very formative in my upbringing, this despicable ‘looking from the side’.”

“Looking from the side” is what those of us do who are cowed into silence by the threat of being called anti-Semitic. Looking from the side is what too many western Jews do, while those Jews who honor the humane traditions of Judaism and say, “Not in our name!” are abused as “self-despising”. Looking from the side is what almost the entire US Congress does, in thrall to or intimidated by a vicious Zionist “lobby”. Looking from the side is what “even-handed” journalists do as they excuse the lawlessness that is the source of Israeli atrocities and suppress the historic shifts in the Palestinian resistance, such as the implicit recognition of Israel by Hamas. The people of Gaza cry out for better.”

                • Glenn M. Ricketts

Thank you. I hope so as well.

Yes, and I have just scratched off my list of Catholic colleges to recommend to my grandchildren the name of Wyoming College (aka WHYoming)

According to Article 3 of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, persons committing genocide or complicity in genocide shall be punished “whether they are constitutionally responsible rulers, public officials or private individuals.” The United States not only supports and funds the ongoing genocide in Gaza, replenishes Israel with more funds and weaponry, but it also uses its political clout to enable Israel to continue its ruthless crimes against humanity. While many have not been shy about calling these crimes genocide, they have come under attack for using the “G” word. Is genocide an appropriate term to use? Well, it is if one has respect for international law and the rules of the genocide convention.
Article 2 of the Convention clearly spells out:
“In the present Convention, genocide means any [emphasis added]of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part [emphasis added], a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
        (a) Killing members of the group;
        (b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
        (c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
        (d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
        (e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.”
There is little argument and ample evidence that Israel’s actions against the people of Gaza in particular, and Palestine as whole, constitute the term genocide.

Moshe Feiglin, the deputy speaker of the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, has published a plan for the total destruction of the Palestinian people in Gaza.

His detailed plan, which calls for the use of concentration camps, amounts to direct and public incitement to genocide – a punishable crime under the Genocide Convention.

In a 1 August posting on his Facebook page, Feiglin, a member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ruling Likud Party, calls for the “conquest of the entire Gaza Strip, and annihilation of all fighting forces and their supporters.”

“This is our country – our country exclusively,” he writes, “including Gaza.”

Feiglin’s posting is the text of a letter he addressed to Netanyahu.

Citizens and public authorities around the world should attempt to have Feiglin arrested and prosecuted under the Genocide Convention for his statements, should he set foot in their territories.

His abominable plan comes as the death toll from Israel’s ongoing slaughter in Gaza reaches 1,752 people, including ten persons killed on Sunday morning when Israel once again bombed a United Nations-run school being used as a shelter, this time in the southern town of Rafah.

            moshe-feiglin-sq.jpg

            Moshe Feiglin (David Rabkin/Wikimedia Commons)
Feiglin, like his Knesset colleague Ayelet Shaked, has previously made genocidal statements, but these are perhaps his most specific and explicit.

Calling for mass extermination and ethnic cleansing, Feiglin now urges Netanyahu to “turn Gaza into Jaffa, a flourishing Israeli city with a minimum number of hostile civilians.”

Jaffa is a major Palestinian coastal city that was ethnically cleansed by Zionist militias in 1948 and incorporated into present-day Israel. The few thousand Palestinians who remain in the city face ongoing attempts to force them out.

As of this writing, Feiglin’s Facebook post had more than eight thousand “Likes” and had been shared almost two thousand times.

            “Concentrate” and “exterminate”

Feiglin writes that the Israeli army must “designate certain open areas on the Sinai border, adjacent to the sea, in which the civilian population will be concentrated, far from the built-up areas that are used for launches and tunneling. In these areas, tent encampments will be established, until relevant emigration destinations are determined.”

“Tent encampments,” where the Palestinian civilian population would be “concentrated,” are simply concentration camps.

“The supply of electricity and water to the formerly populated areas will be disconnected,” he adds.

He then calls for the “formerly populated areas” to be “shelled with maximum fire power. The entire civilian and military infrastructure of Hamas, its means of communication and of logistics, will be destroyed entirely, down to their foundations.”

The Israeli army would then “exterminate nests of resistance, in the event that any should remain.”

            Expulsion

“Israel will start searching for emigration destinations and quotas for the refugees from Gaza,” Feiglin writes, but “those who insist on staying, if they can be proven to have no affiliation with Hamas, will be required to publicly sign a declaration of loyalty to Israel, and receive a blue ID card similar to that of the Arabs of East Jerusalem.”

            Feiglin’s statements are crimes

The Genocide Convention defines genocide as any of a number acts “committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such.”

            These acts are:

            Killing members of the group;
            Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
            Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
            Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
Feiglin’s plan has clear genocidal intent in at least two respects: he denies that the Palestinian people exist and he defines Palestinians collectively as an enemy and target because of their religion:

“There are no two states, and there are no two peoples. There is only one state for one people.”

“The strategic enemy is extremist Arab Islam in all its varieties, from Iran to Gaza, which seeks to annihilate Israel in its entirety.”

In addition to outright acts of genocide, punishable crimes under the convention include “direct and public incitement to commit genocide”; “conspiracy to commit genocide” and “complicity in genocide.”

Any fair-minded prosecutor would see that Feiglin’s statements provide ample probable cause for action under the convention.

State parties to the Genocide Convention are obligated to punish crimes under the Genocide Convention in their domestic courts.

Citizens around the world should seek to have Feiglin and any other Israeli leaders who commit genocidal acts arrested and sent for trial by using whatever legal mechanisms are available, including notifying law enforcement and immigration authorities of such genocidal statements.

            Full translation of Feiglin’s statement

Feiglin’s Facebook page is verifiable as his because it is linked from his official page on the Knesset website.

Here is Feiglin’s 1 August statement on Facebook, translated in full by Dena Shunra:

            With God’s Help

            Attention

            Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

            Mr. Prime Minister,

We have just heard that Hamas has used the ceasefire to abduct an officer. It turns out that this operation is not about to be over any too soon.

The failures of this operation were inherent to it from the outset, because:

            a) It has no proper and clear goal;
            b) there is no appropriate moral framework to support our soldiers.

What is required now is that we internalize the fact that Oslo is finished, that this is our country – our country exclusively, including Gaza.

There are no two states, and there are no two peoples. There is only one state for one people.

Having internalized this, what is needed is a deep and thorough strategic review, in terms of the definition of the enemy, of the operational tasks, of the strategic goals, and of course, of appropriate necessary war ethics.

            (1) Defining the enemy:

The strategic enemy is extremist Arab Islam in all its varieties, from Iran to Gaza, which seeks to annihilate Israel in its entirety. The immediate enemy is Hamas. (Not the tunnels, not the rockets, but Hamas.)

            (2) Defining the tasks

Conquest of the entire Gaza Strip, and annihilation of all fighting forces and their supporters.

            (3) Defining the strategic goal:

To turn Gaza into Jaffa, a flourishing Israeli city with a minimum number of hostile civilians.

            (4) Defining war ethics: “Woe to the evildoer, and woe to his neighbor”

In light of these four points, Israel must do the following:

            a) The IDF [Israeli army] shall designate certain open areas on the Sinai border, adjacent to the sea, in which the civilian population will be concentrated, far from the built-up areas that are used for launches and tunneling. In these areas, tent encampments will be established, until relevant emigration destinations are determined.

The supply of electricity and water to the formerly populated areas will be disconnected.

            b) The formerly populated areas will be shelled with maximum fire power. The entire civilian and military infrastructure of Hamas, its means of communication and of logistics, will be destroyed entirely, down to their foundations.

            c) The IDF will divide the Gaza Strip laterally and crosswise, significantly expand the corridors, occupy commanding positions, and exterminate nests of resistance, in the event that any should remain.

            d) Israel will start searching for emigration destinations and quotas for the refugees from Gaza. Those who wish to emigrate will be given a generous economic support package, and will arrive at the receiving countries with considerable economic capabilities.

            e) Those who insist on staying, if they can be proven to have no affiliation with Hamas, will be required to publicly sign a declaration of loyalty to Israel, and receive a blue ID card similar to that of the Arabs of East Jerusalem.

            f) When the fighting will end, Israeli law will be extended to cover the entire Gaza Strip, the people evicted from the Gush Katif will be invited to return to their settlements, and the city of Gaza and its suburbs will be rebuilt as true Israeli touristic and commercial cities.

            Mr. Prime Minister,

This is the a fateful hour of decision in the history of the State of Israel.

All metastases of our enemy, from Iran and Hizballah through ISIS and the Muslim Brotherhood, are rubbing their hands gleefully and preparing themselves for the next round.

I am warning that any outcome that is less than what I defined here means encouraging the continued offensive against Israel. Only when Hizballah will understand how we have dealt with Hamas in the south, it will refrain from launching its 100,000 missiles from the north.

I call on you to adopt the strategy proposed here.

I have no doubt that the entire Israeli people will stand to your right with its overwhelming majority, like myself – if only you will adopt it.

            With high regards, respectfully,

            Moshe Feiglin

The letter can be examined here. Feiglin calls for the expulsion of Arabs living in the Gaza strip unwilling to sign a loyalty oath. Ugly as that is, it does not constitute ‘genocide’.

As for Feiglin, he holds a ceremonial position in the legislature. He has never held a cabinet post or subcabinet post, never sat in the legislature prior to 2013, and is disliked by the prime minister (who has suggested the adoption of party rules which would prevent him from competing for leadership positions in Likud). He is scarcely more likely to see his program effected than was Meir Kahane.

The “Stated Intentions” of the Israeli Government: If a Genocide Falls in the Forest. “Why are whole families being slaughtered?”

        By David Swanson

There’s a wide and mysterious chasm between the stated intentions of the Israeli government as depicted by the U.S. media and what the Israeli government has been doing in Gaza, even as recounted in the U.S. media.

With the morgues full, Gazans are packing freezers with their dead children. Meanwhile, the worst images to be found in Israel depict fear, not death and suffering. Why the contrast? If the Israeli intent is defensive, why are 97% of the deaths Gazan, not Israeli? If the targets are fighters, why are whole families being slaughtered and their houses leveled? Why are schools and hospitals and children playing on the beach targeted? Why target water and electricity if the goal is not to attack an entire population?

The mystery melts away if you look at the stated intentions of the Israeli government as not depicted by the U.S. media but readily available in Israeli media and online.

On August 1st, the Deputy Speaker of Israel’s Parliament posted on his FaceBook page a plan for the complete destruction of the people of Gaza using concentration camps. He had laid out a somewhat similar plan in a July 15th column.

Another member of the Israeli Parliament, Ayelet Shaked, called for genocide in Gaza at the start of the current war, writing: “Behind every terrorist stand dozens of men and women, without whom he could not engage in terrorism. They are all enemy combatants, and their blood shall be on all their heads. Now this also includes the mothers of the martyrs, who send them to hell with flowers and kisses. They should follow their sons, nothing would be more just. They should go, as should the physical homes in which they raised the snakes. Otherwise, more little snakes will be raised there.”

Taking a slightly different approach, Middle East scholar Dr. Mordechai Kedar of Bar-Ilan University has been widely quoted in Israeli media saying, “The only thing that can deter [Gazans] is the knowledge that their sister or their mother will be raped.”

The Times of Israel published a column on August 1st, and later unpublished it, with the headline “When Genocide Is Permissible.” The answer turned out to be: now.

On August 5th, Giora Eiland, former head of Israel’s National Security Council, published a column with the headline “In Gaza, There Is No Such Thing as ‘Innocent Civilians’.” Eiland wrote:

“We should have declared war against the state of Gaza (rather than against the Hamas organization). . . . [T]he right thing to do is to shut down the crossings, prevent the entry of any goods, including food, and definitely prevent the supply of gas and electricity.”

It’s all part of putting Gaza “on a diet,” in the grotesque wording of an advisor to a former Israeli Prime Minister.

If it were common among members of the Iranian or Russian government to speak in favor of genocide, you’d better believe the U.S. media would notice. Why does this phenomenon go unremarked in the case of Israel? Noticing it is bound to get you called an anti-Semite, but that’s hardly a concern worthy of notice while children are being killed by the hundreds.

Another explanation is U.S. complicity. The weapons Israel is using are given to it, free-of-charge, by the U.S. government, which also leads efforts to provide Israel immunity for its crimes. Check out this revealing map of which nations recognize the nation of Palestine.

A third explanation is that looking too closely at what Israel’s doing could lead to someone looking closely at what the U.S. has done and is doing. Roughly 97% of the deaths in the 2003-2011 war on Iraq were Iraqi. Things U.S. soldiers and military leaders said about Iraqis were shameful and genocidal.

War is the biggest U.S. investment, and contemporary war is almost always a one-sided slaughter of civilians. If seeing the horror of it in Israeli actions allow us to begin seeing the same in U.S. actions, an important step will have been taken toward war’s elimination.

Yes, how many times can a man turn his head
        Pretending he just doesn’t see?

Kozinski, you are blind. If Israel laid down its weapons there would be genocide; if Hamas and the Palestinians laid down their weapons there would be PEACE. You might want to study Islamic books like the Quran and the Hadiths. “In the end times a rock will cry out, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him”. That’s right out of their demon revealed books. In Sura 9-29, both Christians and Jews are to be fought and subjugated. You have to have your head in the sand (or someplace else) to not see the violence and hate directed against unbelievers in Islamic countries, all exhorted by the Quran and Hadiths. You might also need to know there is a death penalty for leaving Islam under Islamic Sharia Law.

      • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

That’s one simplistic and tendentious narrative, the “War on Terror” one, the belief in which ensures the U.S., many times on behalf of Israel, such as in Iraq, will continue to invade and occupy and bomb with impunity countries with Muslim populations resulting in millions murdered, as well as enabling Israel’s continuing genocide and ethnic cleansing and apartheid of Palestinians.

The fundamentalist, violent, scapegoating form of Islam that you repudiate I repudiate too. The difference between me and many on this blog is that I do not selectively condemn religiously motivated injustice. Zionist terrorism gets a free pass here, even when it is out in the open and happening as we speak. That’s a scandal.

Have you no idea of the 1400 year history of Islamic conquest into present day Syria and Persia, then into Egypt, then across north Africa and into Spain, finally being defeated at Tours in 732 AD, over 360 years before the first Crusade in 1096? Most of these were Christian lands including Turkey which was part of the Byzantine Empire and the site of the Seven Churches of Revelations. Have you ever wondered why the Christian populations are so small in Islamic countries. Could it be the intense persecution and taxation of Christian and Jews in those lands. If it’s the spiritual appeal of Islam, you should become a Muslim. In 1948, the Arab states were set to wipe out the new Jewish state and told the Muslims living there to leave until they had annihilated the Jews. That did not happen, nor in 1967, nor in 1973, a miracle. If they had won, all Jews would have been annihilated and you would not have to defame them now….I’ll continue later.

But you don’t factor that deranged mentality into your defense of these people. How many of your so-called “Zionists” send their kids out with bombs strapped to their bodies? You lack the credibility to speak here about justice.

Are you going to deal with the public evidence of Israeli snipers bragging about how many Gazan children they shot in a day? All murder is evil, remember , not just when the victims are Israeli.

                  • ForChristAlone

what DO you think about your palestinian friends strapping bombs around the waists of their children. going to defend this too?

“Zionist terrorism” – a straw man created by you to justify your Jew-hating.

          • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

Zionism is a distortion of Judaism, just as jihadist violent Islam, a la Isis, is a distortion of Islam. My love for Jews inspires me to criticize the hateful, politicised, and racist distortion of the Old Testament (which is behind thus massacre), the proper interpretation of which leads to Christ. Instead if supporting the Israeli leaders in their error, you should admonish the sinner and instruct the ignorant, Muslims are not the only ones in need if Christ. For Christ alone.

            • TruthWFree

“Zionism is a distortion of Judaism, just as jihadist violent Islam, a la Isis, is a distortion of Islam.”

Again you are ignorant of the false prophet’s teachings and the history of Islam. I doubt that you can even define “Zionism”. Islam was born in fighting, robbing, killing, and plunder. The false prophet got his demon possessed vision in a cave in 610 AD at the age of 40. He told his wife Khadija (at the time only one wife) that he thought he was possessed by a demon but she convinced him it was from God. He preached his religion in Mecca for 12 years and only garnered about 150 followers (Bill Warner’s Political Islam website Statistical Analysis of Islam’s books). He then did the Hijra thing to Medina in 622 AD (the start of the Muslim calendar, not the first revelation). In Medina he started robbing the caravans bound for Mecca, killing people and taking sex slaves. (According to Robert Spencer, “The Truth About Muhammad”, he had married a six year old after Khadija died and consumated the marraige when she was 9. He was a pedophile besides being a robber and murderer. He went on to have a number of wives…10 to 13, including his adopted son’s wife Zaynab, who the allah god approved though another convenient revelation. He allowed his thugs 4 wives plus sex slaves taken in battle, a good incentive for a thug to fight for allah and if killed, he gets Muslim paradise with virgins and young boys…yes, this is in the Quran.) This is also the reason for Muslim suicide bombers today who fight for the false allah god of the Quran. Muhammad’s Jew hatred started when they did not accept his prophet status or his revelations. They called him a fraud…and he was…or in my opinion his supernatural revealor was not Gabriel but Satan as I’ve stated. The Meccans came against him in 624 AD (Battle of Badr) for robbing their caravans with 3,000 to his 1,000 and he defeated them claiming allah gave them the victory. There was another battle (Uhud) in 625 where the Meccans got the better of him and almost killed him. Finally in 627 AD, there was the battle of the trench which was a standoff but after the Meccans went back to Mecca, he accused the last Jewish tribe of Medina of treachery and cut the heads off 600 to 900 men of the Jewish tribe and took their women children and possessions. (What did you say about ISIS being a distortion of Islam?). In 630 AD, he had enough thugs following him for plunder, sex, and paradise (if killed in those efforts) to march into Mecca with 10,000 thugs and take the city with little fight. He now controlled the Arabian Peninsula not with religion but with thuggery and religion. He died in 632 AD at the age of 62…some say from a poison given to him about 3 years earlier by a captive woman that finally got him. After he died, his follower Abu Bakr then marched into Syria and a weakened Persia due to battles with the Byzantines. Umar, Uthman and Ali followed him. Both Uthman and Ali were murdered by opposing Muslim forces in Islam. The Ali murder resulted in the Shia Sunni split and is the reason today that ISIS (Sunni) is killing Assad’s forces (Shia) and putting their heads on pikes to instill terror. The Quran says to strike at their necks and they are following that allah god command. Muhammad also said, “I have been made victorious through terror” and they are doing that too.” By the early 700’s, they had conquered across north Africa and into Spain, all Christian lands.
The teaching of hate against the Jews is an allah god command, and the command is that in the end times every Jew is to be eliminated. This hatred of the Jews runs throughout Islamic/Muslim society, even to children just able to talk and comprehend. Its basis is in Islam as I have said. The Quran also says to fight Christians and Jews until we are subjugated (Sura 9-29).
Efforts to negotiate peace with Hamas/Fatah/Iran/any Muslim state and Israel is a fools errand and Perry and Obama do certainly fit the description of fools. Before that Jimmy Carter and Clinton. Anwar Sadat agreed to peace with Israel and it got him killed by the Muslim Brotherhood so no Muslim leader will do so especially against the dictates of his religion with fanatics enforcing those dictates. (Yasser Arafat signed a treaty but I have read he went back and referenced the Treaty of Hudaydiya in 628 AD (in Arabic) which told his followers that Muslim treaties were only to give Muslims time to build up strength to overcome the infidel.) The same is true for any good person who wants to leave Islam. There are fanatics enforcing the “death for apostates” edict of Muhammad and to do so in a Muslim country is asking for someone (the state or family) to kill you. This edict was enforced in Dallas, Texas, some time ago when a father killed his two teenage girls for being too Western and flirting with infidel boys. There are other incidents in the West such as this. Death for apostasy is the glue that holds good people in Islam. I could say much more about this cancer on mankind, Satan’s religion, but if you choose to ignore all this, you deserve to stay in your biased ignorance. Someone said you are a professor. I do hope the students who come through your classroom can discard your bias for the TRUTH.

BTW, at one time Muhammad agreed to two other gods besides allah with the Meccans but later got a chiding revelation from allah that it was Satan who fooled him into agreeing to include those two gods (Remember Salmon Rhusdies “Satanic Verses”?). From my view, Satan gave him the entire Quran and that’s the reason we are having this conversation today. There is conflict every place in the world where Islamic states adjoin non Islamic states. The allah god’s Quran, calls for fighting until Islam is supreme (Sura 2-193). If you think this will stop at the Jews annihilation, you are again delusional.

I think Iran is a good standard for what Islam is, not tendentious, fear-based narratives that marshal facts to fit a pre-ordained conclusion

Last time I checked, Iran has never attacked a foreign country, repudiates usury, theologically rejects absolutely the use of nuclear weapons, and has anti-abortion, anti-pornography, and anti-sodomy laws. Ask yourself if it is Muslims that murdered over 1,000,000 Iraqis based upon outright lies, with the sum of all war crimes, aggressive war, according to the Geneva convention, being committed. Ask yourself if Muslims have destroyed the Constitution and have given the President the authority to imprison and kill America citizens with no evidence or trial. Ask yourself who is supporting corrupt Muslim tyrants and dictators in Saudi Arabia and enabling them to oppress their people. Ask yourself if all the coups and government overthrows since 1945 were led by Muslims. Mosaddegh and Allende, for example, elected, socially responsible and peaceful governments led by men of the very highest quality, criminally usurped–by whom?

Has it been Muslims that have, for the past 66 years, been involved in numerous covert sabotage, anti-sabotage, assassination, propaganda, destruction and subversion plans against other countries, and during the course of all these covert actions, violating different internationally recognized treaties and regulations as well as the sovereignty and territorial integrity of these nations?

Did Muslims enact the “War OF Terror,” by far the greatest and most systematic terrorization of civilians ever seen. No Muslims have every claimed responsibility for 911, but they all have been scapegoated in the most murderous way possible. Unarmed citizens are murdered across the world as ‘collateral damage’, ‘illegal enemy combatants’ or other license of impunity. The US state conceives itself as above international law along with ally Israel, but this reality is taboo to report and so too all the killing and terrorization of civilians. One can truly say that the historical record demonstrates the US is provably guilty of continual lawless mass murder of civilians across the world, but the truth is unthinkable within the ruling ideological regime. Only Muslims are to blame.

As the great Paul Craig Roberts has said, and this is very pertinent to Crisis readers:

“The American public contains a large number of misinformed people who think they know everything. These people have been programmed by US and Israeli propaganda to equate Islam with political ideology. They believe that Islam, a religion, is instead a militarist doctrine that calls for the overthrow of Western civilization, as if anything remains of Western civilization.

“Many believe this propaganda even in the face of complete proof that the Sunnis and Shi’ites hate one another far more than they hate their Western oppressors and occupiers. The US has departed Iraq, but the carnage today is as high or higher than during the US invasion and occupation. The daily death tolls from the Sunni/Shi’ite conflict are extraordinary. A religion this disunited poses no threat to anyone except Islamists themselves. Washington successfully used Islamist disunity to overthrow Gaddafi, and is currently using Islamist disunity in an effort to overthrow the government of Syria. Islamists cannot even unite to defend themselves against Western aggression. There is no prospect of Islamists uniting in order to overthrow the West.

“Even if Islam could do so, it would be pointless for Islam to overthrow the West. The West has overthrown itself. In the US the Constitution has been murdered by the Bush and Obama regimes. Nothing remains. As the US is the Constitution, what was once the United States no longer exists. A different entity has taken its place.

“Europe died with the European Union, which requires the termination of sovereignty of all member countries. A few unaccountable bureaucrats in Brussels have become superior to the wills of the French, German, British, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Greek, and Portuguese peoples.

“Western civilization is a skeleton. It still stands, barely, but there is no life in it. The blood of liberty has departed. Western peoples look at their governments and see nothing but enemies. Why else has Washington militarized local police forces, equipping them as if they were occupying armies? Why else has Homeland Security, the Department of Agriculture, and even the Postal Service and Social Security Administration ordered billions of rounds of ammunition and even submachine guns? What is this taxpayer-paid-for arsenal for if not to suppress US citizens?

“As the prominent trends forecaster Gerald Celente spells out in the current Trends Journal, “uprisings span four corners of the globe.” Throughout Europe angry, desperate and outraged peoples march against EU financial policies that are driving the peoples into the ground. Despite all of Washington’s efforts with its well funded fifth columns known as NGOs to destabilize Russia and China, both the Russian and Chinese governments have far more support from their people than do the US and Europe.

“In the 20th century Russia and China learned what tyranny is, and they have rejected it.

“In the US tyranny has entered under the guise of the “war on terror,” a hoax used to scare the sheeple into abandoning their civil liberties, thus freeing Washington from accountability to law and permitting Washington to erect a militarist police state. Ever since WWII Washington has used its financial hegemony and the “Soviet threat,” now converted into the “Russian threat,” to absorb Europe into Washington’s empire.

“…theologically rejects absolutely the use of nuclear weapons,…”

Islamic theology (the Quran) says to slay the pagans and fight Christians and Jews until we are subdued and to fight until Islam is supreme (9-5, 9-29 and 2-193). Iran has called for the destruction of Israel and America. They will use their nuclear weapons for these purposes as soon as they get them. The leaders believe this will usher in the Mahdi. Have you been on another planet? You have no credibility.

                    An alternative view of Iran

Here are some of the ways Iran differs from its media caricature.

MYTH: Iran is sneakily trying to build nuclear weapons. REALITY: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, whose word is law for all 77 million Iranians, has repeatedly and officially declared that nuclear weapons and all other WMD are haram, meaning absolutely forbidden. The CIA affirmed in 2006 and again in 2012 that there is no evidence of any covert Iranian nuclear weapons program. In his new book Manufactured Crisis: The Untold Story of the Iran Nuclear Scare, Gareth Porter exposes the Zionist-driven hoax that has bamboozled the world.

MYTH: But as Israeli historian Martin Von Crevald says, Iran would have to be crazy NOT to want nuclear weapons! REALITY: The Iranian leadership doesn’t see it that way. First, the Qur’an clearly bans indiscriminate warfare and the destruction of civilians, women, children, property, animals, crops, trees and so on. Islamic scholars who are not beholden to realpolitik-minded politicians agree that WMD is absolutely forbidden. (Independent Christian scholars agree.) And Iran is the only country on earth in which the religious scholars, rather than the politicians, have the last word.

Some “court muftis” in places like Pakistan, like the “court Christians” of America, have argued that it’s OK to stockpile WMD for deterrence, as long as you don’t use it. But Grand Ayatollah Makarem points out that if you have it, you eventually might have to use it. Developing and stockpiling such weapons entails the possibility of using them, and is therefore forbidden. The Supreme Leader’s fatwas against WMD are absolute, irreversible, and eternal.

The Iranian strategic leadership accepts this ruling. They point out that contrary to Von Crevald’s opinion, nuclear weapons would not really serve Iran’s strategic needs. Even if Iran were to decide to violate the Qur’an and build WMD (God forbid) it could never produce more than a small fraction of the stockpiles held by its enemies. Since using WMD would be both religiously forbidden AND suicidal, stockpiling such weapons would not be a realistic deterrent. By refusing to develop WMD (while insisting on its right to peaceful nuclear energy) Iran is creating a moral deterrent against the potential first use of WMD against it. Additionally, Iran has a wide array of non-WMD options available to deter conflict with potential aggressors: It can shut down the Persian Gulf, rain non-nuclear hellfire on Tel Aviv and/or US bases in the region, and (according to an elaborate war-gaming study published in the Atlantic Monthly) almost certainly win any conventional conflict with the US and/or Israel. Developing nuclear weapons would detract from Iran’s strategic advantage by inviting aggressors to escalate to the nuclear level.

MYTH: But this is all just talk. How do we know their actions will correspond to their words? Reality: We know it from awful experience. During Saddam’s “imposed war” on Iran during the 1980s, Rumsfeld and other Western leaders gave Saddam chemical weapons and urged him to use them against Iran. Saddam complied, raining down horrific substances on Iran that are still ravaging a significant segment of the population. Iran, led by Imam Khomeini, refused to retaliate in kind – though it could have deterred further Iraqi chemical attacks, and even achieved a huge strategic advantage. (Iran had the capacity to out-produce Iraq in chemical weapons had it wanted to). Imam Khomeini’s fatwa against WMD, which has been repeatedly reaffirmed by the current Supreme Leader, is absolute – it even applies when Iran is itself under attack by WMD. History supplies the proof.

MYTH: Iran wants to “wipe Israel off the map.” REALITY: Another hoax. The actual quote from ex-president Ahmadinejad was: “The Imam (Khomeini) said this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the pages of time.” This Khomeini quote cited by Ahmadinejad could be interpreted as a call for an end to the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem – a position supported by the entire world through a series of UN resolutions. Or it could be a broader call for an end to the occupation of Palestine and the Zionist apartheid that comes with it. Either way, Khomeini’s quote is not a military threat, but a call for regime change. This quote accurately represents the consensus position of the people of the Middle East. Show me a single non-Zionist in the Middle East who claims to disagree, and I’ll show you a liar, hypocrite, or dissembler.

MYTH: Women are oppressed second-class citizens in Iran. REALITY: Women are about as well-represented in the political, intellectual and cultural leadership of Iran as in the USA; they have certainly made massive gains since the Islamic revolution of 1979. Today, more than two-thirds of Iran’s university students are women. Women were well-represented at the conferences I attended. They are a strong presence in Iranian journalism, as Press TV fans know. The contrast between Iran and US ally/puppet Saudi Arabia, where women are not even allowed to drive, could not be more stark.

MYTH: The Iranian government is a totalitarian theocracy. REALITY: Theocracy, yes; totalitarian, no. All Muslims are in agreement that God is the only sovereign. Therefore any country with a strong Muslim majority must either be a theocracy or a colony of the non-Muslim imperialists. Unlike most Muslim countries, which are under de facto non-Muslim occupation, Iran has managed to integrate the Islamic tradition with participatory democratic institutions. That makes it a “participatory theocracy.” In many ways Iran is far more democratic than the USA. Current President Rouhani, for example, was elected fairly, using hand-counted paper ballots, despite the fact that he is at least as far outside Iran’s ruling consensus as, say, Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich or Ralph Nader is outside the USA’s ruling consensus. Such people could not be elected in the USA. But Iran’s people, unlike America’s, actually have a significant choice when they go to the polls. And there are many competing power centers in Iran, both inside and outside of the clerical establishment, creating a working system of checks and balances.

MYTH: Iran’s Shi’ites are crazy religious fundamentalists. REALITY: The word “fundamentalist” applies to Christian Protestants. There is no real Islamic equivalent. But if what you really mean is “bonehead literalist obscurantists” then you’re talking about Iran’s wahhabi-takfiri enemies, not the Iranians. The wahhabis and takfiris insist on literal, simplistic, sometimes grossly misleading interpretations of scripture. They are the ones who (like al-Zawahiri) claim that WMD is licit. Iran’s Shi’as (like many traditional Sunni Muslims) are led by sophisticated scholars who include allegorical and mystical readings of scripture, which they read thoughtfully with an eye to both the letter and the spirit, the “zahir” and the “batin.” Imam Khomeini, for example, was a devoted scholar and fan of the great Sufi theosophist Ibn ‘Arabi, the bane of all boneheaded literalists.

MYTH: Iranians hate Americans; they call the US the Great Satan and scream “Death to America!” Reality: Iranians love Americans. But they also love justice and hate oppression. It’s part of their Shi’a tradition. Since the US government has acted as an unjust oppressor to Iran at least since the CIA coup of 1953 – and is a global oppressor in the large scheme of things – Iranians have indeed been peeved at the US government…but not the American people.

Last year I was in the middle of a demonstration of millions in Tehran celebrating the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Many were carrying signs or chanting “Death to America!” When they found out I was American, the people carrying “Death to America” signs gave me big smiles, expressed affection for Americans in general and me in particular, and told me how happy they were that I was joining them in their celebration. Real Iranians, even at pro-revolution demonstrations, are the exact opposite of the snarling, murderous Hollywood Iranians of Argo.

Ben Affleck’s Argo, like the film-within-a-film of the same name, was a covert operation disguised as a movie. It used coercion, the world’s most powerful brainwashing technology short of datura, to subconsciously implant anti-Iran hostility in its audience. In his book Coercion Douglas Rushkoff explains: “In whatever milieu coercion is practiced, the routine follows the same basic steps: Generate disorientation, induce regression, and then become the target’s transferred parent figure.” Hard-sell car salesmen, CIA interrogators and psychwar ops, and cult leaders have long used this technique…(For example) The salesman then takes the mark on a test drive and, at the right moment, asks “Is this the type of vehicle you would like to own?” Rushoff quotes a car-salesman-turned-whistleblower: “And anyone will tell you this, the vacuum cleaner salesman, the car salesman—the customer has a split-second of insanity. The mind goes blank, the body paralyzes, the eyes get glassy, dilated. And you’d be surprised how many people have an accident at just that moment! Ask any car dealer. We always joke about it.” The car salesman’s question, like the well-timed words of a good hypnotist, triggers a sudden intensification of the customer’s dissociated, suggestible state. Rushkoff explains: “The customer is already in a vehicle, being asked to imagine himself owning the same type of vehicle. It’s the same as if I asked you if this is the kind of book you can imagine yourself reading. Your current situation is reframed in fantasy. It creates a momentary confusion, or dissociation, from the activity you’re involved in. That’s why so many drivers crash.”

Argo does the same thing by featuring a film-within-the-film also named Argo. The fake Argo inside Argo asks the viewer: “Is this the kind of (fake) film you could imagine yourself watching?” Suddenly the viewer is disoriented and dissociated. The imaginary Argo within Argo convinces the viewer that the real Argo he is watching is REAL. It destroys the reality-framing process. The viewer becomes just as fearful and confused as the poor Americans held hostage in Tehran. Under coercion, the viewer is regressed to a powerless infantile state as he identifies with those powerless hostages. He surrenders to the filmmaker (Affleck) and the CIA rescuer (played by Affleck) who has become the substitute parent figure and who implant subconscious images of evil, bearded, screaming, angry, murderous Iranians deep in the mind of the viewer…who will emerge from the theater innoculated with Iranophobia without the slightest idea of what has been done to him.

MYTH: Iran is a very dangerous place. REALITY: If you’re a top-notch Iranian scientist, maybe so. I met students at Iran’s leading technical schools who told me that every graduate is assigned a team of professional bodyguards to stop Israeli assassins. Other than that – and occasional terrorist outrages from the lunatic ultra-communists of the MEK – the only thing dangerous about Iran is the Tehran traffic. In terms of crime, Americans (and Iranians) are far safer in Tehran than in any big American city. Outside of Tehran, it’s even safer. With its various safety nets, including family solidarity, alms, ultra-cheap medical care, and other traditional means of taking care of the weak and indigent, there are no starving people, and virtually no homeless people, in Iran. And Iran’s religious culture also puts a damper on crime. Unfortunately, these things may change if the Western cultural invasion via satellite TV continues its assault on Iran’s traditional religious values.

MYTH: Iran is one of the world’s top human rights abusers. FACT: Nothing in Iran remotely compares to the institutionalized torture of at least 2.3 million victims of America’s prison-industrial complex; the mass murder of roughly 55 million people by the US government since World War II; the ongoing destruction of human liberty by all of America’s major institutions including the NSA and Hollywood (see my discussion of Argo above) ; and a long list of other American abuses well known to the audience of my radio shows and the rest of the independent media. Anyone who lives in America, yet worries about human rights in Iran, is clinically insane.

In fact, Iran has a different view of human rights from that of the mainstream US media and the Western-dominated foundation-funded human rights NGOs. The “rights” to defame religion, undermine the religiously-grounded social order, engage in the display of public sexuality, and promulgate pornography and other degrading materials do not exist in Iran. In the Islamic Republic, the right of people to be free from such soul-killing assaults trumps the rights of the soul-killers. You may not agree with these values…in which case you might be better off living somewhere on the 99% of the earth’s surface that more closely reflects your worldview, rather than on the 1% known as the Islamic Republic of Iran.

MYTH: Iran persecutes religious minorities, including Jews and Bahais. REALITY: Jews and other traditional religions, no. Bahais, yes. Regarding Jews, it is well known that despite the utmost efforts of Israel and its agents, the Iranian Jewish community is proudly Iranian and has no intention of relocating to Occupied Palestine. There are Jewish representatives in the Iranian government, and the Jewish community of Tehran is thriving.

Some claim Iran persecutes Sunni Muslims. In fact, the US and Israel have sponsored Takfiri-Wahhabi terrorist groups that randomly kill Shi’a Muslims (and other “religious deviants”) as a matter of policy. Iran defends itself against these assaults; it is likely that some innocent people get caught up in the dragnet. But apart from this, Sunni Muslims, and members of other traditional religious groups, are doing fine in Iran. In fact, as a Sunni Muslim, I can tell you that there is no other country on earth where genuine Sunni Muslims ought to feel more comfortable.

As for the Bahai, Iranian leaders view their “persecution” of that group as a form of necessary self-defense. The Bahai faith – or cult, as most Muslims would have it – appears to have been, like Wahhabism, invented by freemasonic imperialist forces as a weapon against Islam. (If it wasn’t, it might as well have been.) Bahaism is just massively-watered-down pseudo-Islam designed to turn Muslims into Western-style secularists. It begins with the blasphemous (to Muslims) assertion that new prophets known as The Bab, Baha’u’llah, etc. have come to release Muslims from their religious obligations. Since Islam conceives of itself as the Final Revelation, the idea of a “new prophet” of any kind is the most destructively subversive idea imaginable – a notion that no Muslim society could ever possibly tolerate. On top of all that, the fact that Bahai headquarters is in the genocidal “state” of Rothschild-occupied Palestine spits in the face of the world’s Muslims. So if you are Bahai (may God forgive you) you obviously should make your home somewhere on that vast portion of the earth’s surface where the social order is non-Islamic.

MYTH: The Islamic Republic is a failure, and regime change is just around the corner. FACT: Politically, economically, and technologically, Iran is by far the most successful country in the Middle East. The only economically comparable Middle Eastern country, Turkey, has no technological breakthroughs comparable to Iran’s space program and nuclear energy program – much less the ability to hijack US drones – and is still struggling to free itself from its NATO overlords. Despite the crushing effect of Western sanctions, Iran has soldiered on and learned to be self-reliant in manufacturing, R&D, technology, and so on. Iran looks live a thriving, booming country, not a basket case. It seems like just about everyone has a car (for better or worse). There is a huge construction boom, with construction cranes and tall buildings rising against the skyline. Compared to Iran, Morocco – the Muslim country I am most familiar with – is a poverty-stricken backwater, despite (or because of) its economy receiving vast sums of Western investment.

As for the notion that most Iranians want to get rid of their Islamic Republic, this is a ridiculous propaganda meme, spread by psychological warfare operatives, that bears no relation to discernible reality. Yes, a minority of Iranians, almost all concentrated in the privileged classes of places like North Tehran, is drunk on Westoxicants and yearning for the “freedom” to be New World Order consumer-culture mind-control slaves.

It may be best you identify yourself not as “Doc” but as the official propaganda arm of the Iranian government.

Your post has no credibility with me. Hopefully also with no sane person. I have studied Islamic history and Islamic books and the suicide bombers and the hatred is in accordance with those hateful and violence writings, supposedly from the allah god of the Quran, which tends to make these killers do what their allah god wants them to do. Israel’s Military Strategy:”Obliterate Them Completely”. Overwhelming Evidence of Genocide, Precise Data on Death and Destruction in Gaza

Death Toll Exceeds that of “Cast Lead”, 2008-2009

                By Prof Michel Chossudovsky

                Global Research, August 03, 2014

Genocide directed against Palestinians has become a “New Normal” according to the Times of Israel.

Under certain circumstances –according to the Times of Israel article–“Genocide is Permissible” because it is directed against Palestinians who are “terrorists” and who should be “obliterated”.

Implementing a policy of genocide against terrorists including innocent civilians is permissible to ”achieve responsible goals” as formulated by the Netanyahu government.

“What other way then is there to deal with an enemy of this nature other than obliterate them completely? …

If political leaders and military experts determine that the only way to achieve its goal of sustaining quiet is through genocide is it then permissible to achieve those responsible goals?

” (See The Times of Israel: Genocide is Permissible “to Achieve Responsible Goals?” Global Research, August 01, 2014)

The following data (carefully compiled by Lesley Bravery, scroll down) confirm the central objective behind Israel’s military strategy which consists in “implementing genocide”, in carrying out “a strategy of obliteration”.

While killing civilians is a central objective, destroying the Palestinian economy, wrecking the institutions of civil society and making life impossible and unbearable for those who survive the bombings are an integral part of the military campaign:

Residential areas are singled out for bombing and shelling campaigns. Most of the buildings destroyed or damaged are people’s homes.

                Schools, hospitals, clinics are targeted.

The bombings are also intent upon the destruction of electricity, water and waste-water infrastructure.

The Unspoken objective is Genocide directed against the People of Palestine.

The Expulsion of Palestinians from their Homeland

Let us be under no illusions. The central objective of the Zionist State is expulsion and territorial expansion

Powerful voices in Israel’s Knesset (parliament) have called upon the government to expel the Palestinian population and resettle the territory with Jews. (Statement of the deputy speaker of the Knesset Moshe Feiglin):

“After the IDF completes the ‘softening’ of the targets with its firepower, the IDF will conquer the entire Gaza, using all the means necessary to minimize any harm to our soldiers, with no other considerations,…Gaza is part of our Land and we will remain there forever, … Subsequent to the elimination of terror from Gaza, it will become part of sovereign Israel and will be populated by Jews. This will also serve to ease the housing crisis in Israel.” (Moshe Feiglin quoted in Ali Abunimah,Expel Palestinians, Populate Gaza with Jews, Says Knesset Deputy Speaker , July 28, 2014

The underlying premise is “Greater Israel”: ” Gaza is part of our Land and we will remain there forever”

                Complicity of the West

Western leaders are not only complicit, they have blood on their hands.

This carefully planned Israeli military undertaking was coordinated with the Pentagon and NATO. It has broad geopolitical and economic ramifications (which are beyond the scope of this article).

Israel’s military actions are supportive of Washington’s Middle East strategy which consists in destabilizing and fragmenting Israel’s neighboring Arab States. It is also part of the road map of US-NATO-Israel war plans directed against Iran. The timing of Israel’s attack on Gaza coincides with the militarization of Eastern Europe and relentless war threats directed against Russia.

“Paying Lip Service” to Israeli War Crimes

The “Washington Consensus” pays lip service to Israeli war crimes. According to the powerful Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) which overshadows the US State Department, prime minister Netanyahu is said to have a profound “dislike for military conflict”.

According to the CFR, Netanyahu “is at the mercy of events” which are “beyond his control“. The victims of Israeli war crimes are said to be responsible for their own deaths. Netanyahu is “safe and reliable”, he is committed to peace, he was “politically compelled to act”. He is portrayed as the victim.

                Genocide is the “New Normal”

In turn, the US media has also embraced the “New Normal” which intimates that “genocide is permissible” under certain circumstances. According to the Wall Street Journal, the solution is the outright elimination and/or expulsion of Palestinians from their homeland:

What did Gazans think was going to happen? Surely they must have understood on election night that their lives would now be suspended in a state of utter chaos. Life expectancy would be miserably low; children would be without a future. Staying alive would be a challenge, if staying alive even mattered anymore.(Professor Thane Rosenbaum, WSJ, July 21, 2014, emphasis added)

                Michel Chossudovsky, August 3, 2014

Data Compiled by Leslie Bravery of the Palestinian Human Rights Campaign

                Auckland, New Zealand

The death and destruction to midnight on 31st July are:

Palestinians killed: 1372 (315 children, 166 women and 60 elderly).

Palestinians wounded: 7680 (2307 children, 1529 women and 287 elderly).

                Buildings destroyed: 5238

                Buildings damaged: 4374

                Damaged Hospitals and Health Centres:

                13 hospitals and 10 clinics

                34 health facilities closed

                12 ambulances damaged

                38 health personnel injured including:

Two pharmacists, four paramedics, one assistant pharmacist, one laboratory and blood bank manager.

One nurse and an Administration Manager died as a result of Israeli airstrikes.

The Roman Catholic Church in Gaza, hosting over 800 refugees and 29 handicapped children was threatened with bombardment although it was impossible to move the handicapped children outside the church.

Once again, Israel has targeted offices providing services to Palestinian and international media.

Over 245,000 people have been forcibly displaced.

1,700,000 people (the entire population of the Gaza Strip) have been affected by the destruction of electricity, water and waste-water infrastructure.

Moshe Menuhin, famous by association as father of Yehudi and Hephzibah, appears to be now neglected as a resolute anti-Zionist. His 1965/1969 The Decadence of Judaism in Our Time explains why. His ‘almost preferred’ original title, “Jewish” Nationalism: A Monstrous Historical Crime and Curse, better conveys the book’s contents. It retains its pertinence. In Decadence we read:

‘As to Zionist Israel of the present day, I prefer the truth as fearlessly told by one honest repentant Israeli, Nathan Chofshi, in reply to all the sordid and revolting propaganda, brazenly and inhumanly and hypocritically told by such tribalistic barbarians as Ben Gurion, Moshe Dayan, Shimeon Peres, Levi Eshkol, Abba Eban and the entire lot of the military gang that runs poor misguided Israel. Said Nathan Chofshi [in 1959]: “We came and turned the native Arabs into tragic refugees. And still we dare slander and malign them, to besmirch their name; instead of being deeply ashamed of what we did, and trying to undo some of the evil we committed, we justify our terrible acts and even attempt to glorify them …”.’

The ‘entire lot of the military gang’, now fronted by the sociopath Benjamin Netanyahu, is still in charge of things.

Kozinski thinks that all the Palestinian Muslims want is territory – their so-called homeland. He is not yet aware that Islam’s aim is world conquest. The problem with people like him is that he identifies with the “victim” and projects all his own needs and fears onto them. He cannot see them for who they are; he cannot see Islam for what it is. Someday he will come to his senses (perhaps it will take his forcible conversion) or his descendents, if he has any, will come to understand their intent.

Hamas has taken on a war strategy that maximizes its own civilian casualties. It’s a losing battlefield strategy, however international news media by covering for Hamas and condemning Israel has scored public opinion and global political victories for Hamas. I can understand Israel’s motives and to some extent Hamas’s motives. But, what motivates the news media, in particular the American main stream news media? Why would they be coconspirators with Hamas and make themselves complicit in the death of all those civilians?

I believe that if the media would stop condemning Israel and start condemning Hamas the war would end very quickly.

Let me re-phrase it: Who issued the call summoning the Jew-haters here?

        • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

Supporting the ideology of Jewish racial supremacy, which is used to justify the cold blooded murder of Palestinians, is tantamount to hatred of Jews. The ordinary God loving and God fearing Jew is not represented by the Zionist leaders of Israel.

          • ForChristAlone

three teenage Jewish boys were brutally murdered by your palestinian friends…now THAT is cold blooded murder.

            • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

The Israeli police have recently announced that Hamas didn’t do it.

              • ForChristAlone

Read what I wrote again….”brutally murdered by your palestinian friends”. If these were your sons, it wouldn’t make any difference if they were murdered by Hamas or “peace-loving” palestinians. They’d be just as dead. It’s funny how we have sentimental depictions of “palestinians kids murdered while innocently playing on the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean” but nothing about three teenage Jewish boys and what they were doing when they were hand selected by palestinian murderers for kidnapping and brutal execution. I find it disingenuous when palestinian life is important but jewish life is not.

                • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

Evidence points to it being a false flag, that is, it wasn’t Palestinians who did it.

                • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

A massive, violent home invasion is essentially what the people of Palestine have been facing on a grand scale since the state of Israel was carved out through ethnic cleansing and terrorism in 1948. This “conflict,” which should more accurately be called a conquest, did not start in June of 2014 when three Israeli teenagers were kidnapped and killed. Thousands of Palestinian kids have been kidnapped by Israeli forces and held in Israeli jails for the “crime” of throwing rocks or for no reason whatever, a fact not mentioned by the charlatans who shed tears exclusively for the three deceased Jewish settlers. Dozens of Palestinians, including many young children, are sporadically killed by Israel all the time. These Palestinian deaths have been happening on a routine basis for decades preceding the deaths of the three Israelis in June, a fact conveniently discarded by the Zionized parrots of Israeli propaganda.
But according to the Zionist-dominated press and the hoodwinked dupes who blindly follow its logic, Jewish life is infinitely more valuable than Palestinian, Arab, Muslim and non-Jewish life in general. This racist, supremacist inference is apparent in every utterance and headline of the mainstream media in Canada, the US and other countries whose governments are captive slaves to International Zionism.
In any case, the Zionist regime has since admitted that the Israeli teen kidnapping incident, which was used by Netanyahu to initiate the present slaughter, had nothing to do with Hamas. Moreover, it has been revealed that the Netanyahu regime knew immediately that the three abducted Israelis were dead, but withheld the information from the public in order to unleash its murderous pogrom in Gaza and West Bank under the cover of “finding the teens and bringing them home.” “Israeli intelligence [knew] that the boys were dead shortly after they disappeared, but [sought to maintain] public optimism about their safe return to beef up support from the Jewish diaspora [for a conflict with Hamas],” writes Katie Zavadski in the New Yorker.
A Storm Clouds Gathering video on YouTube entitled, “The Gaza Bombardment: What You’re Not Being Told,” reproduced an audio recording of the kidnapped teens’ distress call to Israeli police which was originally posted on the Jerusalem Post’s website. In the recording gunshots and screams can be heard. Most interestingly, a voice in the recording, presumably that of the kidnapper, can be heard speaking in Hebrew, not in Arabic; a fact which is highly suggestive as to the real perpetrators of that Machiavellian deception.
The motto of the Israeli spy agency Mossad is “By way of deception thou shalt do war.” It is of no real controversy to those who are awake that Israel would kill several of its own citizens and have it blamed on Hamas so as to provide the necessary pretext for wanton genocide of the Palestinian people.

                • Thaddeus J. Kozinski

I find that disingenuous as well.

I read that you are a Socratic scholar – hard to square with your coarse and rabid language. It does seem redolent of that unedifying Jew-baiting which Pope John Paul II regretted among so many of his fellow Poles in history and for which he freqeuntly apologized. But one question that interests me: why have the Jews accomplished so much for civilization and the Muslims so little? As has been pointed out, There are only 12 million Jews in the world (just 0.2 % of the world’s
population), and yet the Jews have earned over 20% of all Nobel prizes:
among those, in science 41% in economics, 28% medicine, 26% physics, 19%
chemistry. There are 1.4 billion Muslims in the world (21% of the
world’s population) and they have won a total of six Nobel prizes
(compared to 165 won by Jews) , and only three of those in hard physical
      sciences.

Pope Francis had Muslim prayers in the Vatican and when I asked my priest about it he said, “We all pray to the same God”. I told him I totally disagreed with him and he proceeded to get in my face full of anger. The Quran is supposed to be Muhammad’s allah god’s revelations to him and the Quran states that Jesus (Isa) did not die on the cross, was only a prophet, and never said He is the Son of God. These are lies against the Gospels written 600 or more years earlier. Jesus says in the Gospels that Satan is the father of all lies. I conclude that the allah god of the Quran is Satan. Also, the teachings of hate and violence against unbelievers are 180 degrees opposite Christ’s teachings of love and forgiveness. We Christians need to pray for good people who are Muslims to leave that evil religion/ideology and come to Christ. Yes, they can be killed for apostasy, but eternal life with Jesus Christ is our goal and the better/only choice. I wanted to ask the priest if he ever preached the Gospel to a Muslim that Jesus Christ IS the Son of God with the same intensity that he preached to me that we all worship the same God.

    • ForChristAlone

pray for your priest…he means well but falls short of the mark. But keep on educating him to the truth. Give him lots of materials on islam; he’ll appreciate the information you have to give him that allah is a fraud.

Let me guess his age: somewhere between 55 and 70.

      • TruthWFree

I’d put him between 60 and 65. I have written a letter to the Bishop asking for his understanding of the situation (the theology, not his priest’s erroneous belief) and I have yet to hear from him (five weeks). I intend to call his office and try to get a meeting with him to discuss the matter. If we all pray to the same God, we may as well become Muslims (NOT!). If that’s the position of the Catholic Church, I can no longer be a Catholic Christian (but always a Christian based on the Gospels). Are we seeing the apostasy of the end times? Christ said that He is the Only way to the Father and I believe the Gospel statements. The Pope’s statements on atheism and homosexual unions also gives me great concern.

        Thanks for your comments.

        • ForChristAlone

Hold onto the Catholic faith…we’ll need people like you when the persecution intensifies. Stay at it with your bishop. Give him time as he’s probably taking a crash course on Catholic theology before he responds to your letter.
And thank God for JP II and B XVI for giving us the Catechism. That is authoritative. Our God is One and Trinitarian. Anything that departs from this teaching is anathema.

    • Minerva

I like what you said here. Well done.

      • TruthWFree

Thanks for your words. I have written a letter to the Bishop trying to understand where he stands on the “We all worship the same God” issue. It seems many in the Catholic hierarchy are misled on who the allah god really is including Pope Francis and John Paul II before him. Leo (and Urban) at the time of the Crusades had a different view of the god of Islam.

        • Minerva

As a fellow Catholic I agree with you. Christians clearly have a completely different understanding of who God is and what he expects of us in compared to the God of Islam. The God in Islam is not a God that gives people the choice to come freely to him out of love but a God that demands a rigidly loyal, unquestioning, militant type of allegiance from it’s followers quite similar to the brutal demands put on common gangland hit men. This God they speak of is unrecognizable as the same loving and forgiving God that directs us to be good and do good in his name. A God who demands his followers to commit the very acts which put ones mind in living hell and soul in eternal damnation is not the God of all creation.

Iran is a good standard for what Islam is, not tendentious, fear-based narratives that marshal facts to fit a pre-ordained conclusion

Iran lacks the spirit of mercy and love that only Christ can bring, so their laws are draconian in many respects, but at least, especially since 1978, they have been trying to order their politics by God’s will, and not the will of man, though rejecting the Gospel (though they revere Christ and Our Lady), they tend to mix the fallen human and the Divine. But last time I checked, Iran has never attacked a foreign country in an aggressive war, it repudiates usury, theologically rejects absolutely the use of nuclear weapons, and has anti-abortion, anti-pornography, and anti-sodomy laws (though, again, especially with the latter, they are draconian). The Vatican has historically (Cairo conference) allied with Islamic countries to combat the culture of death.

And who is supporting Netanyahu’s mass-murder campaign against innocent Gazans? Our American universities are silent on this, or are defending it, but not Iran’s. Who is, it is scandalous to have to ask, more Christian, more supportive of the dignity of every human life regardless of ethnicity, more morally sensitive to war crimes?

And ask yourself if it is organized Muslims that murdered over 1,000,000 Iraqis based upon outright lies, with the sum of all war crimes, aggressive war, according to the Geneva convention, being committed. Ask yourself if it is organized Muslims that have destroyed the Constitution and have given the President the authority to imprison and kill America citizens and citizens throughout the world with no evidence or trial. Are Muslims spying on U.S. citizens?

No Muslims have every claimed responsibility for the 911 attacks (Bin Laden, in the only credible, authentic communication from him, rejected all responsibility), but they all have been scapegoated by the U.S. govt in the most murderous way possible. But according to Kilpatrick and friends, only Muslims are the problem.

Now Russia is being scapegoated for crimes without any substantial evidence, just as Hamas was scapegoated for the murder of the Israel teens, justifying mass murder of civilians, and now the Israeli police have said definitively that it wasn’t Hamas.

As the great Paul Craig Roberts has said, and this is very pertinent to Crisis readers and authors who have been tricked into thinking that Islam is the greatest danger to America and the West. It is the scapegoat-minded-immoral-aggressive-war-mongering-American-empire-defending Catholics and Christians who are the greatest threat to the West. I love America, and that’s why I offer these criticisms of its self-destructive trajectory.

Roberts: “The American public contains a large number of misinformed people who think they know everything.

Zionism is a variant of ordinary political particularlism. There is a religious Zionism, but it’s political expression is folded into larger movements which incorporate a variety of other strands (and which, between them, do not corral more than about 20% of the Jewish public in Israel).

      • Defender of the victims

The ‘entire lot of the military gang’, now fronted by the sociopath Benjamin Netanyahu, is still in charge.

          1. The sock-puppeting is poor form (and got you banned from The American Catholic).

          2. The Arab population living on the coastal plain and some from adjacent areas ended up as ‘refugees’ consequent to insurrectional violence they themselves initiated in 1947, consequent to the war launched by the neighboring Arab states in May 1948, and consequent to their own evacuation in the spring of 1948 to clear the decks for that invasion. This is not an esoteric piece of information, just uninteresting to you.

          3. If its your insistence that Jewish particularism is somehow uniquely evil, that’s not only false, it is self-indicting.

          • Defender of the victims

Jewish racism/supremacy/ exceptionalism is the problem, as are all forms of it, such as Christian Zionism. There is a culture of this in Israel, spreading to America, as these comments I am combatting reveals.

          • John

It’s not Jewish particularism that it is the problem, but Jewish Nazism, as is seen in this call for the genocide of Gazans: published in this apparently mainstream paper of Jewish thought. He even calls it “The Solution” to the Gaza problem. Sound familiar?

My Outline for a Solution for Gaza: By Moshe Feiglin

Arabs in Israel, Articles, Identity, Identity, Israel and the Nations, Israel and the Nations, Key Articles, Land of Israel, Land of Israel, Security, Security

Ultimatum – One warning from the Prime Minister of Israel to the enemy population, in which he announces that Israel is about to attack military targets in their area and urges those who are not involved and do not wish to be harmed to leave immediately. Sinai is not far from Gaza and they can leave. This will be the limit of Israel’s humanitarian efforts. Hamas may unconditionally surrender and prevent the attack.

Attack – Attack of the entire ‘target bank’ throughout the Gaza Strip with the IDF’s maximum force (and not a tiny fraction of it) with all the conventional means at its disposal. All the military and infrastructural targets will be attacked with no consideration for ‘human shields’ or ‘environmental damage’. It is enough that we are hitting exact targets and that we gave them advance warning.

Siege – Parallel to the above, a total siege on Gaza. Nothing will enter the Strip. Israel, however, will allow exit from Gaza. (Civilians may go to Sinai, fighters may surrender to IDF forces).

Defense – Any place from which Israel or Israel’s forces were attacked will be immediately attacked with full force and no consideration for ‘human shields’ or ‘environmental damage’.

Conquer – After the IDF will complete the softening of the targets with its aerial and long distance fire-power, it will send in infantry to conquer the entire Gaza Strip, using all the means necessary to minimize any harm to our soldiers, with no other considerations.

Elimination- The GSS and IDF will thoroughly eliminate all armed enemies from Gaza. The enemy population that is innocent of wrong-doing and separated itself from the armed terrorists will be treated in accordance with international law and will be allowed to leave. Israel will generously aid those who wish to leave.

Sovereignty – Gaza is part of our Land and we will remain there forever. Liberation of parts of our land forever is the only thing that justifies endangering our soldiers in battle to capture land. Subsequent to the elimination of terror from Gaza, it will become part of sovereign Israel and will be populated by Jews. This will also serve to ease the housing crisis in Israel. The coastal train line will be extended, as soon as possible, to reach the length of the Gaza Strip. According to polls, most of the Arabs in Gaza wish to leave. Those who were not involved in anti-Israel activity will be offered a generous international emigration package. Those who choose to remain will receive permanent resident status. After a number of years of living in Israel and becoming accustomed to it, contingent on appropriate legislation in the Knesset and the authorization of the Minister of Interior on a case by case basis, those who personally accept upon themselves Israel’s rule, substance and way of life of the Jewish State in its Land, will be offered Israeli citizenship.

Dr. Kilpatrick offers an 1,800 word commentary which discusses three individuals in the Near East – a contemporary Muslim cleric working in Egypt and two Levantine politicians who were at mid-career around about 1940 and have been dead for 40 and 65 years respectively. There is discussion of some of the points of comparison between contemporary Islamism and the Nazi movement. There is discussion of a number of ugly incidents in Europe in recent months but only two vague allusions to contemporary conflicts between Arabs and Jews in and around the former mandatory Palestine, no discussion of inter-state relations in the Near East, and no discussion of latter-day figures within Israel or in any Arab state (other than this fellow Qadrawi).

So why does one launch into a 41 comment binge on Israel, the Israeli military, Zionism, &c. including multiple descents into poisonous fantasy?

You fancy over forty remarks on subjects only tangentially related to the subject of the article (but which replicate this poster’s previous outbursts on this site and others) are indicative of something else?

You’re blind and probably Koz’s wife.

Because I am protesting the decision of this journal to publish yet another Muslims are evil article in the midst of a naked, brutal, murderous terror campaign against Muslims, executed with U.S. diplomatic and propaganda cover and both tacit and explicit support by Catholics who should know and will better. I am confident that readers are getting my message and taking heed, in spite of the obvious obfuscations, ad hominems and threats by deco and friends. Their ire is a nice sign of a job well done. Congrats to Watosh and ponerology for their good efforts in combatting the propaganda here.

      • Art Deco

        Yes, we’re getting your message.

One aspect of the message is that you cannot stay on topic and critique the article Dr. Kilpatrick actually wrote and instead give us the voices in your head (who have a perfectly random relationship with actual contemporary history).

        • Defender of the victims

Kilpatrick’s program, and yours, is a scapegoating campaign against Muslims, given ideological cover by the grand hoax that is the War on Terror. I am here to deconstruct and subvert that campaign, when there arises an occasion, and when I have the time. If I can persuade just a few to reject that campaign and separate it completely from authentic catholic thought and action, it’s worth it.

          • Art Deco

            1. I have no ‘program’, nor is there much indication Dr. Kilpatrick has one either.

            2. The “war on terror” may or may not be advisable policy. It’s bizarre to refer to it as a ‘hoax’.
