I am aware that Pope Leo XIII is one of the Church’s greatest leaders, but why hasn’t he, as of yet been declared a saint?

Agreed; also a fact that without Faith, human rights become disassociated from human responsibilities. The former reigns supreme. The latter goes in the trash can.

I wonder if it isn’t time for a papal encyclical entitled “On the restoration of things…” Its Latin equivalent of course. But restoration does require an admission of loss and that is what I find missing in America today, but also too often in the Church. And I’m mean something more than yearning and nostalgia. Prof. Esolen as always, indispensable reading. Eight months of RCIA and here is another name — Leo XIIIth– that never came up. Religious instruction is one of those things in need of restoration. I am aware that he elevated Blessed John Henry Newman to Cardinal of course.
