If Mary and Joseph had Facebook…

…how would the Nativity story have unfolded? A sweet little video — and given the Tweets and status updates I get from friends in the delivery room, probably pretty accurate.

Hat tip to the Deacon’s Bench, which has just relocated to Patheos! Be sure to check out Deacon Greg at his new digs.

Cute yes, but highly inaccurate. Magi not approved of by God – see commands to Israelites in Mosaic Law. Magi not at Bethlehem to see newborn Jesus – see Matthew account chapter 2. Most likely at home in Nazareth. Also, Jesus not born Dec.25. Bible does not mention date or command to commemorate birth. Pagan holiday under masquerade.

Loved it. Great reminder that no matter how advanced in technology we are. God is still the same!

    Rick,

    Lighten up.

Some people who have studied Christmas have concluded that Jesus was in fact born on that date, yet of the 365 day calendar December 25th is as good a day as any other. As for it being a pagan holiday, that is utter nonsense. The early Church very likely chose that date in order to compete directly for souls by using a date that would place the celebration of Jesus’ birth in direct competition with the pagan celebrations of that time (a very sound plan if true).

As for celebrating Jesus’ birth: recall, the Bible never says to compile a Bible either.

As for your comments about the Magi: Jesus brought in a NEW covenant, rememeber?

Anyway, I hope you had a great Christmas.

    Patrick.
